Seems we are only interested in black coaches. Doesn't seem like a fair/just hiring process. After talking to people this morning, we believe Tennessee spoke with in-house candidate Kelsey Pope yesterday. At this time we still believe the two candidates with the most juice are FSU assistant David Johnson and Georgia Tech assistant Kerry Dixon. Both have experience in the SEC.

Keep in mind Bass----all coaches got their start as a nobody somewhere. Saban was a nobody before someone gave him a chance to become what he is todayIf we know who the finalists are, then I would argue that two are really good recruiters: DJ and Heard. Dixon recruited well at Florida also. Pope has never recruited anyone.
DJ would have been a great hire because of his recruiting connections and his coaching ability. He would have been great for the young guys in the room too. He can both develop and recruit and has done both at a high level. Dude put kids in the league from Memphis.
Pope may turn out to be the best WR coach in the country. But he could also be a poor hire because he has no experience. On this side of it, I'm disappointed if he's the guy because we could have had a more proven commodity. At the end of the day, it's WR coach and not OC so it isn't the biggest deal. But someone who could help us bring in talent would have been an upgrade to this staff.
That was what I thought when we got Wade Houston…. I was shown that is not always the case. LOL Most wide receiver coaches seem to be black which I have no issue at all with….. Players need coaches they can relate too… if skin color helps… I’m all for it…. Just win, baby. Not if a black coach helps you recruit better.
It's crazy..they have really good talent, but that has to be one of the most discombulated teams I have seen in a while.
How is it strange and out of place? It's accurate.
And it goes along with White's push to hire a black head coach.
Just hire the best for the job, no matter color.
