That's one thing I completely disagree with in the system. It's silly how a team can go from 74th to 77th and is no longer counted in a quad...that is too cut and dry.Vandy was 74 in the NET before last night’s game. Our win at Vandy is a Q1 win, but if they drop below 75th, it is Q2. We need Vandy to keep winning a few.
Edit: NET just came out for today. Vandy dropped to 77.
Butch was a great hire for Saban. They guy got paid about 40k per year by Bama while we paid the rest. He got a coffee fetcher and we paid the bill.To be fair, every coach makes bad hires at some point. I mean, even Nick Saban hired Butch...
The key is not to make a habit of it. I'm gonna trust Heup to get it right.
Did everyone’s periods happen on the same day of the month….my only point was that the nfl makes bad hires all the time…. As for Burns…. I have no idea if he was a good coach or not but there has been several rumors that Heup was not happy with him as a coach…. No one was surprised when he left to pursue another position….. As for our wr receiver coach….. I’m cheering for Pope….. he seems like a great up and coming coach that is really popular with both the players and recruits…. I am not excited about the other two guys bc I am over bringing in retread coaches and want some new blood in there.Fine. Heupel is an idiot for hiring him. No doubt he'll screw it up again. Better?
@LA Vol I know you been around a while. Can you briefly describe the difference between this staff and the last staff, as far as how they go about hiring coaches. Also how do you feel about the way this staff goes about recruiting opposed to the last one.. I will hang up an listen![]()
Love this. Are you saying I'm as old as InVOL?
They're going to hire and recruit to the system and the UT way. Instead of being wowed by the name brands, they look for good character, good academics and a good fit for the culture UT has set. If it takes longer to build this way, it's going to take longer and UT will support them while they build and be patient while they grow and develop.
UT leadership is banking on this being a better way long-term, and they're investing in people who will build this sort of foundation and rep the university well. You see it across all UT sports, in the people they've hired, those they retain and the players they recruit. It can be a bit frustrating at times, because certain things would move the needle a bit faster, but they're all-in.
if you said that about the political stuff id agree.
this is a sports message board. if you dont like him, block him. That's what ive done for @InVOLuntary, @Weezer, @engineerVOL, and @Glitch. Those idgits summitted Mt Moran more times that I can count.
SS, nobody is being negative. I was just pointing out that Burns proved to not be a great hire so any of this "just trust the coaches!" stuff is irrelevant. The only complaint that I am making is that I would prefer it to be someone with experience. I don't think that's some extreme take.
