The videos I’ve seen from civilians are not like anything we’ve ever seen. Most videos we’ve seen from Afghanistan or Iraq were from our guys with go pros or Jihadi propaganda videos blowing up a humvee. Hopefully a positive unintended consequence will be to show how horrific war is to the local population and cause everyone to see the realities of what’s really happening.

Also, this footage from Ukraine is more relatable to a wider audience, especially a Western audience. Civilians getting killed anywhere is terrible, but humans naturally sympathize more with people they feel like they can relate to. Ukraine is a more modern, prosperous, and Western country than somewhere like Iraq and Afghanistan. These videos getting posted to Twitter are from people standing in their house or apartment, sometimes in a relatively large, modern-looking city, with a plane getting shot down, missile impacting, or tanks driving by. It hits closer to home and seems like something that could happen in your own backyard. It is absolutely astonishing.

Defiant Ukrainian border guards killed after telling Russian warship to ‘go f–k yourself’

Ukrainian border guards defending a Black Sea island defiantly told an invading Russian warship to “go f–k yourself” when asked to surrender and were killed when the warship opened fire.

The 13 guards were posted on the small but strategic Snake Island off Ukraine’s southeastern border when they were approached by two vessels on Thursday, according to Ukrainian media outlets.

The Russians contacted the guards and identified themselves as a “Russian Warship,” demanding that the Ukrainians surrender or else they would open fire according to audio of the exchange.

“This is a Russian warship, I repeat. I suggest you surrender your weapons and capitulate otherwise I will open fire. Do you copy?” The Russians said to the border guards.

Most everyone agrees with the intelligence that Putin helped Trump get elected. If he was so scared of him, why would he do that? Trump certainly seemed to make it easier for Putin all through his adminstration-- abandoning the Kurds, siding with him over the CIA, weakening NATO, ignoring bounties on our soldiers, blackmailing Ukraine (to the point of getting impeached over it)

I don’t think we can. Most of our European “allies” aren’t very militarized aside from maybe the French but it’d be foolish to expect much from them. Poland, Israel and South Korea all have reason to side with us but they lack the industrial might to be of consequence. Who do we have in our corner that comes close to the military capability of the Dog eaters or Russians? India has the population but I doubt they have the industrial capacity. We’re in trouble if the things carry on in this direction

You seem to be talking about war with both concurrently. We and our allies should be able to contain them, at least Russia, without war.
If it comes to it, NATO is strong militarily. North America and Western Europe > Russia and China. Add in Japan and some ME and SEA and we have a clearer advantage. Israel won't be involved. Now is no time to surrender.
