‘23 CA QB Nicholaus Iamaleava (Tennessee)

Having an offer and a committable offer is very different. Georgia did not want 90% of those recruits. We are second in P5 with offers for the 2023 class according to a spreadsheet I saw the other day. Every time one of those kids commits elsewhere, it does not mean we got beat out for them.

By all means please provide the proof that those UGA offers were not committanle offers.

I can assure you you are wrong.

2018 guys we got over UGA:
JJ Petersen
Alonte Taylor
Emerson
Gooden
Carvin

2019:
Wright
Morris
Crouch
Keyton
McCollough
Williams
Burrell

2020:
Lawrence
Bailey
Wideman
Whitehead
Bailey
Joseph
Mays
Eason

2021:
Willis
Nixon
Parker
Rucker
Young

But yeah we haven’t beaten Georgia for any recruits.
2022
Sampson
Webb
White
Nichols
West
Josephs
Pearce

2023
Davis
Luttrell

So do you believe Venson Sneed and Brody Foley chose Indiana over us? It’s common knowledge that schools will offer now to let the kid know they are interested. Not all offers are “takes”

There can be some language, but it’s pretty tricky. It’s still technically a bit of gamble which is why NIL can’t be the only selling point in a recruitment, especially early.

Ideally, the kid loves this staff and university and also realizes he can make a ton of money here and it’s all good.
I agree it is tricky.

Assuming it's a local business, I'd think one could include something about being available at all times for local appearances...or not damaging their marketability in the immediate area. Could also write it as a multiyear renewable contract and give the company the above leeway to not renew. Who knows if that stuff holds up, but I'd have to think they throw in something.

Especially if it's through Spyre...they sure aren't going to want to bleed over a 4 year contract when the kid bounces and gets his NLI rescinded 1 week into school.

The only thing that is certain is it is nearly impossible to ever know how many kids we beat another school out for and vice versa.

I mean, a kid could be a diehard Vol and commit immediately. UGA could call him and up and he could tell them to not even waste his time. Or he could leave them off of his top 10 list...and UGA suddenly is "cool" on him or is no longer trying. Even if they really wanted him.

Ultimately, recruiting is juggling and maximizing your resources over not just who you want, but who also wants you, or is even available.

Nobody really know these things but the player and (maybe) the school. The "we've only beat them out for a few kids" narrative is based on the floor, not the ceiling, number of kids that have chosen us over them. There could be plenty more, but we'll never know for sure.

Good point on the committable offers. That’s like saying Oregon beat out UGA and flipped Jordan James.

But see here is the thing. There is no definitive proof that the offers were not committable. It’s just an opinion. So if Bama offers a guy, are we to just assume it’s committable or non-committable? Obviously James offer was a committable one at the time he committed.

Yes not all offers are takes. But how can a TN can say with any definitive proof that they know players UGA offered aren’t “takes?”
