Ok, going to disagree here and I believe Payton was better as far as a pure passer goes, but Brady wasn't "lucky" to win those SuperBowls. To get there he had to beat Manning, Rothlesberger, and the Ravens with Ray Lewis in his prime every year. Brady didn't have the strongest arm and wasn't the best pure passer, but his prep was second to none. He rarely made big mistakes and engineered scoring drives to win big playoff games in the last 2 mins over and over again against the Colts and Steelers. He played to his teams' strengths, made the right play calls, passed to the right people, and rarely made big mistakes. That wasn't luck.... I am a Steelers fan and hated playing Brady more than any QB.
Not arguing where Brady is on the list, but he never beat manning, bug Ben, or any other QB. He did better against their teams defenses than they did against his team's defense.

Yeah, the rule changes almost require a separate category because the very purpose has been to make the sport more popular by increasing the frequency of touchdowns.

Old time football almost needed someone who had played to grasp the import of many plays. And while things are actually much more complicated now, there is a certain special something involved in thrilling to a defensive battle and the old school running game. Fans paid more attention to blocking, for example.

That’s literally the definition of beating them…
No it's not. Saying it that way implies that one was a better QB than the other. If they both played against the same defense, then you could say it that way and be accurate in doing so. That's like saying nick foles beat Tom Brady. It's such a misleading way to phrase it, the implication is one QB was better than the other.

Yes it was sweet irony. It was sort of sad to see him that last year struggling, but making it to the finish line made is so d*** sweet!!! The Sheriff!!!

I’m not sure people realize how magnificent it was for Peyton to return from his neck injury. I know someone who is about two degrees separated from Peyton’s in-laws (hint: I’m in Memphis). I was told that the family vacationed at their Montana home several months after his surgery. Peyton was playing catch with the kids, and he could barely throw it 10-15 yards. I believe that I had this discussion at the Super Bowl party where they lost to Seattle. My friend said it’s crazy how far he came, and his first year in Denver was statistically phenomenal.

Nick Foles did beat Tom Brady and Eli Manning beat him twice. Your argument is hypothetical. You have no idea what would happen if they switched teams, but you know what did happen… Tom Brady won 7 Super Bowls, beating some of the best quarterbacks in history along the way.

Quarterbacks never beat other quarterbacks. They never even step on the same field together. It's such a disingenuous phrasing.

So we should only say the Patriots won 7 Superbowls, not Tom Brady?

So we should never say Peyton won a Super Bowl? Only the Colts and Broncos won them?

Quarterbacks are the team leaders and the most important position on the field by far. It would be disingenuous for you to not think so. Your argument is just semantics at this point.
