Matt used to post on here. Used to have his own PC. Sounda like he was picked up by ESPN, much more professional sounding Podcast.

UT admin letting Pearl hang out to dry during his NCAA interview was fairly common knowledge right after it happened. Don’t remember who reported it. I believe it was Rob from VQ. It may even be in the NCAA report if you want to dig that up. Lots of Vol fans were upset about it at the time.Who knows that? Show me how those are facts. Bruce also apparently called Aaron Craft’s family to tell them to not tell the truth.
Yep. Pearl was an assistant at Iowa and recorded Thomas admitting that Illinois offered him $$$ to go to Illinois. Pearl turned it in to the NCAA and got Illinois in trouble. So many D1 coaches blackballed Pearl because they all cheated and had a gentleman agreement not to squeal on each other.Folks need to remember this was not the first time Pearl had problems with NCAA. His actions with Deon Thomas caused Illinois to go on probation and he was essentially blackballed by D1 teams for several years until UW-M took a chance on him. He definitely has a "win at all costs mentality" imo
Yeah I slept for 5 hours with the help of some Valium. Just went to my recheck…I have 20/15 vision now!!! Crazy! Technology is amazing! Who did yours?I just had it done yesterday. Slept for hours after. Woke up with no pain and only my eye lashes sticking together due to drops or gel. Feel great! Best and easier experience I’ve ever had.
I think the biggest difference is that there was evidence it was a lie. Still, totally agree with your statement about inconsistent enforcement. And yet lots of other coaches have flat out lied to the NCAA about far worse infractions, but nothing has happened to them. That's the point you're missing. Yes of course if Bruce had been a choir boy he'd still be here, but other coaches are allowed to do far worse without consequence.
I don’t have the time to search through numerous articles to try and find one that mentions that we knew about it….. it was common knowledge during the time and discussed frequently on sports talk and such….. could it have been wrong? I don’t know.
Stan Heath's ncaa investigation at Miami concluded that there was strong evidence he and his staff lied about directly funneling money and benefits (including prostitutes) to players from boosters, and he got a 2 game suspension. That evidence included a confession from a booster admitting coaches would bring recruits to his yacht.I think the biggest difference is that there was evidence it was a lie. Excellent points. Pearl and Tressell got 3 years for lying about a tattoo and a bbq.
I’m trying to remember the details of the discussion. I think the NCAA interviewed other UT admin before they did Pearl. They showed the photo to the other admin in their interviews. They were told not to let Pearl know about the photo before his interview. The story even mentioned UT lawyers involved in the decision not to let Pearl know.I’ve been on message boards for years, and I’m pretty sure it was discussion and not something a person ever put in writing.
They had a chance to tell him what the NCAA was asking and decided to send him in blind.
