Recruiting Forum Football Talk IV

Would like to have a clue that we are actually paying them. Our kids sure don’t seem to have some of the deals lesser players elsewhere got. Maybe just not publicized as much
The bolded part means you are speculating, and from what we have heard from Tennessee media members they seem to think different. Most players don’t disclose their nil makings

Lets look at this realistically for a second.
1. We are under NCAA investigation and yes other teams are using that against us..
2. We have NOT been relevant in the last 20 years and other teams are using that against us.
3. The UT facilities weren't mentioned by some of the top recruits as the best they had visited.
4. Nobody knows for sure what the NIL is or how exactly the other schools are using it.

We have a new coach and a new staff that seem to recruit people that they think can play in this system and not going after every player that they might be able to work into it. We have a new way of doing business on the administration side, right or wrong it is different. Do we have the right people in the right positions, nobody knows but think about it, anybody that has really looked at what we have now and where we were a year ago would have to admit it APPEARS we in a much better place and headed in a much better direction. Back to the corner now with my Crayons and SKITTLES !!!!
Now you're just pissing these people off :):). Keep it up, I like your style :):)

Lmao you feel better now? I love how defensive some of y’all get over pixels on a screen. I literally just stated what I was nervous about with the hire. I think Heupel did phenomenal in year one given the circumstances but you can’t disregard the issues on the defensive side of the ball and the ability to close on some of the recruits/transfer we have been on. Get snippy over my post all you want but it’s not going to change the fact that there are things that need to be addressed asap before it’s too late.
No I understand your point my question is why state the obvious? If you want to make a point wait till after spring and summer when the portal is officially closed to say something negative if they didn’t fill the needs to your liking otherwise you are just being negative for no reason

You've just got to tell him what you want. While we are Christmas shopping, my wife will see something she wants and I tell her "Merry Christmas". This year she got a nice pair of boots. She said I'm remodeling the house so I said "I'm buying a new power tool set honey. Thank you for my gift".
No, I want him to think about it for months! I just buy what I want.I want a “gift” from him. Every year he seems to be in disbelief that I expect him to get something lol. Besides my mom is gone. My dad just gives the grandkids money. My MIL get things off sales racks nobody wants. So I just have him and my daughter who get me something to unwrap. But if she’s happy that’s great!

I can agree with that. We didn’t have much in terms of marketable players until season played out like it did. Just frustrating to see some schools with guys that aren’t even taking snaps making more money than kids working their butt off. Like where is BY being marketed? Seem like we should feature him before Baron if your choosing but Baron has the more marketable personality on surface.

My feeling on losing players to schools with big NIL deals is these rich aholes that talk about loving the Volunteers need to step up to the plate. If they don't, I'm afraid we've seen the best of what Tennessee football will ever be. It's time they do whatever it takes to get us back to where we once were.
I believe these rich a$$holes are spending millions on renovation projects so I kinda think they're doing their part to help UT. It's so easy to spend other people's money.

How is it lacking what proof do you have? Spyre hasnt been a thing for long….just because we didn’t land a Texas kid or we didn’t get Verse doesn’t mean it is lacking..

Also thinking they are going disclose who and what deals they are giving to recruits during the process is ludicrous, sounds like you won’t donate anyway
If you were giving thousands of dollars you would want to make sure your funds are being well spent.

Again, I stated what I was nervous about and said that Tennessee has to catch up in the NIL game. Whether you think that is obvious/negative or not is irrelevant. This is a discussion forum after all so just like you and everyone else I will post as I please.

What more do you need to know about it honestly it’s just a way to pay recruits? Lol either support the program or don’t it’s pretty simple
Clam down new guy. Probably a new student or equipment team. Don’t have to quote every person on this thread.

Ummm, alcohol is not an option for me lol. I will take other suggestions though! I have a friend that brought me a quinine of grapefruit and lemon peels to help with immune system. It has really made a huge difference in a day! Going to keep doing it even after this to see if it will continue to build my immune system and help fight the chronic fatigue.

Alka-Seltzer severe tablets (every 4 hours), Coricidin Cold and Flu (every 6 hours), Vitamin C gummies, Zinc gummies and a daily multi-vitamin should help you with symptom relief, strengthen your immune system and help break a fever. Best wishes.

You know what’s really gonna blow? Donating to the 1951 club and still missing out on all these players.
Money isn't going to recruits.

It will take time to even utilize...you have to create current player deals...then show that to recruits as a big selling point.

Furthermore, the ROI will always be extremely unclear because everyone is doing it. It is unlikely a competitive advantage...just getting over the barrier to entry. I.e. let's say we finish with a #15 class the next 4 years while pouring into NiL. But behind the scenes we're just matching the other top 25-30 programs. It may appear useless, when reality it was keeping us from dropping down to a #20, #25, #30 class.

Just an example...but this is never going to be very clear cut unless we had been a first mover and gone full blast like TAMU.

Two things I was nervous about when they hired Heupel was his recruiting ability at the SEC level and defense and it looks like my nerves were onto something. We have got to get NIL in gear asap.
We don't have spots available right now because we are self-imposing scholarship penalties. We have to be somewhere around 72--75 scholarships when classes start next week. This includes our 13 early enrollees. When spring practice concludes, we can move some players to the portal and then we can replace them one for one as long as we stay at the 72--75 level. It's not hard to understand but it's easy to blame the coaches for being bad recruiters. I can feel my IQ dropping every time I read some of these posts blaming our current coaches for sh*t the other staff created.

Yeah honestly I think that's been the plan.

This is purely speculation by me, so take it with a grain of salt.
  • When White got hired I think the powers that be told him they needed a specific coach and they'd pay $ to get them. But I think that type of coach was a foundation/long haul type coach not a flashy big name and they wanted someone that hadn't had previous NCAA troubles.
  • Once Heupel was hired I'm sure White & powers that be were upfront and honest with him. That the upgrades and renovation projects were a priority over NIL/Recruiting budget in his first few years and that some self imposed penalties would also be on the table.

Again I'm of the mindset that I'd rather rip the band-aid off all at once. Year 1-3 we weren't going to suddenly be winning 10 games and making trips to Atlanta, cause the only way to fast track that is to do the very thing we fired with cause Pruitt for. So if we didn't want to walk that path it's better to miss on flashy recruits/transfers and get all the penalties and renovations behind us before they gear up to really embrace the NIL and recruiting in this new era.
