Regression in 2022

We had an elite offense with Bray and Cheney as well and it did nothing for the overall standing of the program. This offense is too fast at times and too homerun heavy and does not help the defense. I do not have a good feeling about this staff in the next few years.
We shall see, I'm the opposite i feel real good about this staff, I feel next season we'll have our answer and by year 3 he'll have us close to where we want to be.

I want 1 more win each season at a minimum!
8-4
9-3
10-2
11-1
12-0
I want 1 more SEC win each season.
Our 4-4 SEC record this year is better than I expected but far from stellar.
It was just a 1 win improvement over Conehead.
A 5-3season next year would show real progress, not the smoke and mirror stats progress our fan boys point towards.

Depends on what we do with the D and the transfer portal. Excel there and u could see vast improvement. Drag ur feet and it'll be a repeat of this season.

Based on what I saw in the bowl game, I think we see our wins hold at 7 or regress to 6. In not seeing much at the moment showing the team will take a step forward. Our D will almost certainly be worse and our o-line likely won’t be much better.

I think year 3 is when we see CJH take us up a rung on the latter.

Thoughts?

No idea how you substantiate these ideas expect through pure pessimism. There's no way in hell Heupel could do worse with better. The situation that man walked into and turned into something positive is a miracle. I think your battered Vol syndrome is coming through.

😂 I rarely put high expectations on a team anymore. They won 7 games this year and you can argue refs screwed them out of a chance to win 3 more. You expect a little improvement to year 2. Go look at the schedule. Cupcakes OOC. LSU is the West opponent. Florida just exploded and fired their coach too. The only opponents better are Georgia and Bama and Kentucky you might could argue but we always have their number.
But excuse me for being "irrational" LOL

You literally said you would be disappointed if we go less than 9-3. I mean we just won 7 games and that was great. We lose a lot next year. I actually see us taking a step back. LSU has more talent than we do and they now have a top tier HC.

Florida? Lol. They will beat us by 3 TDs like they usually do. 2 more slaughters at the hands of Bama and UGA. That’s 8-4. I guess if that’s our record you will be disappointed. That seems totally rational.

Overreact much? Remember when we smoked Northwestern during the 2016 Outback bowl and we had tons of momentum heading into the 2016 regular season? We looked unstoppable in our bowl win and we had tons of “momentum”. It’s a shame that for the most part second tier bowls are generally meaningless in terms of their impact on the following season

Man, if you think that’s an overreaction, you must get floored by most takes on this site.

A lot of the players on the roster Will get better with a full offseason in the same system just relax… defense not as bad as a lot on here seem to think… DL will be very solid and banks and other LBs will have an entire season of film and experience to learn from and improve Coach is building a work and winning culture… we will be just fine of course we need to continue to get better and recruit but I have complete trust in this staff to continue to develop guys…

Zero reason to lose to Florida. It doesn't matter what your prediction is. Florida sucks and just fired their coach and hired nobody special. Unacceptable to lose to them.
LSU is a toss up.
Tenn almost beat Pitt and OM.
There's only 2 teams that should be better than UT.
How dare I look on paper and expect improvement after seeing what Heupel did with a dumpster fire. How "irrational".

In 2022, I see 8 wins minimum with Hooker under center, and possibly 10 if the NCAA institutes a flop rule where an "injured" player is out for the series.

We will win against:
Ball State
Akron
UT Martin
Vanderbilt

We most likely will win against:
Missouri
South Carolina

We should take at least 2 of the following:
Pitt
Florida
Kentucky
LSU

Alabama and Georgia are still out of our range.

The only way the NCAI (National Collegiate Association of Idiots) institutes a flop rule is if at least two of it's pet programs goes with Heupel's hurry up offense. The one sure fire way they wconsider it is if the TV ratings drop over it, or if there is a sudden drop in bets being placed. Once it cuts into their profits, then they will address it.

Hadn’t played in 3-4 weeks. Our timing was a little off. Schedule looks favorable.

Agree but being patient is getting harder since we have been patient for about 15 years now. We also need to set our standards high and expect more. Florida, Bama and Georgia don’t tolerate underperformance. Richt and Mullen were decent coaches but were kicked to the curb for underperforming. Bama accepted nothing less than Saban at any cost. If we want to be elite we need to set our standards higher. Unfortunately our admin has low standards.

You do realize Saban wasn’t Bama’s first choice?

Regardless, our fan base needs to practice some patience and understand that progress doesn’t always mean winning more games than the prior year.

Please stop making excuses for a season we have yet to play.

Probably unless we get some serious talent via the portal. The nature of a coaching change like we had is for the overall talent level of the team to drop a bit until the new coaching staff can establish contacts/relationships with the incoming HS sophomores/juniors. I expect next year's class (2022) will more reflect the staff's ability to recruit. But as I said, the portal is a whole new game so the old models may not apply anymore. But we would need several SEC quality starters to transfer in in order for next year's team to really improve.

No way

Our defense will be worse next season and it will cost us 3-4 games that we should have won so probably 6-6 is our ceiling next season.
