It's not a dead ball foul and it occurred AFTER forward progress was stopped so it need not be called.for one that wasn’t even called……sooooo
“Missing” a call…per say is totally different than blowing a game by “claiming” progress when the runner progressed to the end zone.
Your trying to bring in an obscure rule that is literally never called. That happens an probably 50% of “scrums”……probably more…….and it’s not called.
You know and everyone knows Tennessee got jobbed on that play…….you simply keep trying to make a point that doesn’t even matter.
Even “if” they were to call it…….Tennessee would have gotten another play.

After he's stopped, Fant grabs. Anything that isn't a dead ball foul won't be called at that point.
Usually guys are pushed back, the whistle blows WELL after they are pushed back but the spot is at forward progress, not the whistle. There was never a stoppage in progress.
Why in the world wouldn’t you be saying “this” instead of trying to argue this rule that is never used?
Why even bring this up all these times if it’s “moot”……..seriously?
We have all seen guys get taken back 5 even 10 yards before “progress” is called many times……….the runner is literally falling “forward” without touching the turf, and tenths of seconds from his last push and hand across goal line……….there is literally no forward progress.
without Tennessee being jobbed the “only” thing they could have done is called the penalty which they never use………however Tennessee would have gotten another chance.
I agree. We could have easily got into chip shot range and it was infuriating. Nevertheless, the most infuriating thing of this game came down to what I was fussing about the whole 5 hours…horrendous officiating.Robbed for sure. But if you just handle that last series correctly you’re kicking the game winning field goal. Not sure why you keep trying for bombs to the endzone when you only need 30 yards for a FG to win. Those sideline routes and slants were working just fine.
How bout we quit playing what if’s and blaming everyone but who is responsible? It’s the damn officials job to get it right. They blew it. Fant isn’t pulling him into the end zone; it’s dumb as hell to argue that, not what was called by the official. Also the idiots reviewed a supposedly non reviewable call just to further cement their absolute incompetence.Just watched the video again and if Fant executes a halfway decent block, it's a near walk in TD.
How about we place blame at the source of the problem on the play. Watch the video. Someone on the interior misses #17 who hits Wright to slow him, Fant misses #7 who grabs Wright in the backfield.
Execute and this isn't a discussion.

How about we actually look at the play. How bout we quit playing what if’s and blaming everyone but who is responsible? It’s the damn officials job to get it right. They blew it. You can even watch Hendon Hooker's reaction and see he knows it wasn't a TD.I watched the game and video. It was a touchdown. You’re wasting your time trying to convince people that they really didn’t see what they saw.
When ncaa rules are created because of VOLS games. It’s not a conspiracy.I’ve bit my tongue for a long time when it comes to the officiating of Tennessee games.
1 - I don’t like to lean on the refs as an excuse for losing
2 - usually one bad / missed call shouldn’t be enough to cost you the game…there were other mistakes along the way
Both 1 and 2 apply to today’s game. We played poorly in all phases of the game.
The season is now over, so I’m going to throw it out there: I find it very hard to swallow how many calls go against us at critical junctures late in games. There are too many for it to be a mere coincidence. Be it a holding call that hasn’t been called all game, a pass interference, forward progress now.
I’m not alleging a conspiracy here, but I’m not ruling out anything nefarious either. It just feels like it happens too often to be a coincidence.
Its called keeping your opponent off guard.Robbed for sure. But if you just handle that last series correctly you’re kicking the game winning field goal. Pushing is legal, pulling isn't. Look it up. Fant pulls him forward, obviously.
