Right now, guys at BAMA sit 3 years and play one. Sure they have day one starters but the majority wait their turn. Hyatt and Keyton are being developed and Hyatt was given every opportunity to take the top WR spot and run away with it. He simply wasn't ready. Most of our WRs weren't ready and it wasn't something that snaps were really going to help them with. Snaps help but development is 90 percent done off the field. That's the reason elite programs can insert a player who has little or no experience without skipping a beat.

I'll give you and @MrVolton the last word after this post if you all want it.
All im saying is, giving young keys reps on game day is super important game experience matters more than you think it does. Also continuity within the system from having guys for 3-4 years. I dont disagree that you want to get to a place where guys only play a few years, but do that while building depth from within. Play the young guys let them learn and as they grow the program grows, not forcing guys in.

My last thoughts, I dont hate Heupel just how he is rebuilding the roster, I think its going to cause major problems in the years that TN should actually be decent. If you look at the situations hes come from he was at Utah State in 2015 they went 6-7. When he was at Mizzou his offenses did ok, but got beaten up on by weaker teams. At OU he had loaded rosters. Hes never rebuilt a roster before.

I say all that to say, wether you azzholes believe me or not, I want the same thing everyone on here wants which is TN to be good again. U just dont agree with how its being done. Transfers cause depth issues, this class really isnt that good 7th in the SEC right where TN has recruited the last 5-6 years nothing special, and who did he really beat this season (I know that one will ruffle some feathers.) Im sorry but there really isnt all this momentum that people want to believe they see.

Use your young guys now and figure out what you have, then year 3 or 4 look to the portal and start finding the pieces. Heupel has put himself in a tough spot whether he knows it or not. You have people going in to year 2 expecting 10 wins already. If Florida comes in to Knoxville and wins or TN only wins 7 or 8 games next year everything I'm saying at the moment will look like child's play with how fast some will turn on him.

I'll finish with this, look at the running back roster. Wright and Small should eat next year, then you have Sampson and Williams behind them then whoever in the class after. If they leave running back alone it will be the best position on the roster because guys were allowed to grow.

I'd 10x rather have had a successful year and built momentum, positive PR, proof of what Heupel can do to fans/recruits/boosters/media, and recruiting traction. Experience is good, sure, at QB...OL...some defensive positions. And HH and all the guys that would've played 2022 anyway along the OL are returning. No way you could sacrifice any more defense than we already (didn't) have. You can't play just for development though...that both destroys team morale and makes too many assumptions about the future...and the present.

But you're talking experience at RB?? I'm really not sure how important that is whatsoever, outside of getting reps pass blocking. The rest for RBs is only marginally important imo.

Nobody is going to "turn" on Heupel for meeting our expectation of 7 wins next year. 8 would be nice. People mentioning 10 wins are talking about optimistic ceilings, not the expectation lol. I'd bet rn our Vegas O/U will be right at 7.5, maybe 8 at tops or 7 low end. Nobody is seriously arguing we should win all of, what could arguably be, 5-6 total "coinflip" games next season.

Only you would try to spin getting two great years out of a transfer QB that very few of us expected to even play into something negative.
