I think a lot of it depends on the team's life-cycle and where they are in it...if you build off transfers early on...that's fine, you just really need to capitalize on it or else you'll be left worse off. Which I think we did this season. We may need to do it 1 more year, but a decent 20-man, mostly HS, class will help down the road. You just have to be able to leverage the transfers by having a strong 2022 season...then we can hopefully start building off of HS guys moreso down the road.
I'll add this though - modern transfers can be a lot different these days. It's not just grad transfers or desperate guys anymore. You could land a guy like Ewers that still has 4 years and is a stud. Just depends if you can get those types and not the other types.
Overall - I think we need to build long-term toward our "big year" like a mid-tier program would - get guys in your program, develop them, get a veteran team together with a QB, and hope stars align. Not because we are a long-term mid-tier program...but right now, within the SEC, we just are. We aren't going to outstar the best in this league. So we need to outdevelop and age them just one year...then our recruiting could really take off to where we could play their game on their level. Until then, we can't try to beat em at their own game.
