Shows how little you understand boxing (and those two fighters especially) . Tyson was very short for a heavyweight. It put him at a distinct disadvantage against taller fighters. Almost everyone 6'3" or taller went the distance with him or beat him, many of whom weren't great fighters. Fury is a great fighter and 6'8". He would clinch and lean on Tyson, jab and frustrate to keep him outside. Then he'd KO Tyson in 7-8 rounds.

I loved Tyson but he was a knockout specialist who struggled to win against good boxers who could neutralize his power. Lewis, Foreman, Ali, and Fury all would have eaten against Tyson and he would wouldn't be able to do anything about it.
You saying Fury is even in the same league as Tyson, Ali, Forman, Norton shows how little you know about boxing.
and the guys Tyson struggled against……all were after his jail time when he wasn’t in his prime

Tyson Fury is a great HW, but he's also not fought that many known names. Not sure he would have made it through the 90s as a HW without getting KO'd a few times.

That era (the 90s) was the golden era of HW boxing imo.

David Tua
Donovan Ruddock
Tommy Morrison
Oliver McCall
George Foreman (his return)
Michael Moorer
Riddick Bowe
Mike Tyson
Lennox Lewis
Evander Holyfield

Probably half that list could have put Fury to sleep within 3 rounds...maybe more if he fought 'em all in their prime.

Lewis definitely. He's the best of that era.

Never would have beaten Tyson in his prime
Young folks don't realize how good prime Tyson was. Other fighters were literally scared of him. His right hand was like a cinderblock and he attacked guys with anger.

Of course, it wasn't sustainable because of his background and personal issues. But for a few years, he was seriously the baddest man on the planet. I would put prime Tyson against prime anybody.

Not to derail the movie thread, but after living through the recruiting cycle on Volnation for the past dozen years or so (thanks @Freak ) I was wondering if we shouldn't have a permanent thread of required reading understanding how the recruiting process works, not only for FF members that wander over, but also for everyone in general as the rules continue to change around the transfer portal, etc. Something that shows who counts against initial counters, the fact that transfer players don't actually sign anything they just enroll, etc.? Thought it might be a good informational thread people could use and be pointed to in hopes of better understanding. Just a thought.

Lewis definitely. He's the best of that era.

1. Lewis
2. Bowe
3. Tyson (before Prison)
4. Holyfield

The thing that's hurting today's era of HWs is the lack of competition. Ya got guys like Wilder who legit don't box, he just swings wide and has natural power...the first real boxer he fought (Fury) made him look BAD.

Now I don't think the 80s would "**** on" today's smaller guys. Alvarez would work about everyone, if Hearn could land clean on him he might be able to KO him...but no one has even put the man on the canvas yet (to my knowledge).

Just now heard from the kitchen…

3 yo: “I wish you Merry Chrifmas, mommy!”

Wife: “awwww 😍. I wish you a merry Christmas, honey!”

3 yo: *crying… “Nooo!!!!!! I WISH you merry Chrifmas, u don’t wish me merry Christmas! 😫

Wife: 😑
We pick up my grandson early to get his picture taken with Santa at the Star. He’s coming off a nap and decides he doesn’t like the new Cowboys sweatshirt my wife got him. Big fit and screamfest, mucho tears and red faces. Arrive and he runs right up to Santa. 5th picture with the big guy…always the angel. 😏

I'd like to see Fury v Joshua. Joshua has a chance, just not a good one.

speaking of fixed

watch the replays around 1:15

why did he drop his hand? while turning his head? then just takes an obvious dive.

At this point Jake's just doing Exhibition boxing anyway. So I don't consider anything he's done being real boxing. I actually think Woodley was paid to take the dive and then Paul hit him too hard.

But even if it wasn't a dive he KO'd a MMA fighter who has **** boxing that's almost 40 and had left his MMA career on a 4 fight losing streak. Not to mention the fact Jake hand picks smaller/older guys for every fight he's had.

100%

They find these guys that get spit out of the UFC. Not necessarily on hard times, but looking around for what they'll have to do next. Then he gets them paid via contract, with points on the PPV money. On top of that, he basically tells them he doesn't care how they lose. So the opponent can figure out a creative way to put money on when/how they'll lose. Then they never have to work again.

Askren all but said aloud that he was paid more than he ever made in the UFC, and will ever make, to take the fight and lose.

It's really weird. It's like watching two rich kids get to play out some elaborate fantasy, while being enabled by everyone. Strange.

There are plenty of fighters that would take either of the Paul's heads off for free. Just for love of the sport, or the publicity, or because they're flat out crazy. The Paul brothers avoid those guys completely.
