Yeah, it’s a little funny how folks pretend like they had Pruitt sniffed out all along. Given the circumstances, Fulmer was given a lot of praise for that Pruitt hire. Didn’t work out. Doesn’t change the fact that Fulmer is a huge part of the program’s rich history.
I loved the Pruitt hire. I thought he was a great teacher that would bring a ton of great connections with him.

Lol of course TAMU leads for several of them. First time I’ve really looked at their class, 3 of the top 10 with two others 100% crystallballed to them which would give them 8 of the top 22… ain’t no stinkin’ way they didn’t break some rules.
still got Jimbo as coach and got to produce that 9-3 or 8-4 season

We shall see. But with as bad as our ILB situation was last year and no one could take over Beasley, makes me worried. Plus, I don’t want a freshmen starting at ILB in the SEC. Maybe they have someone locked in who will come after bowl season. I would love an LSU linebacker….

Here's the thing...it was Beasley's first year really playing not only the position but in Banks' defense. Same for Banks, both got better as they got more experience. Mitchell getting hurt forced some guys ya likely wouldn't see much to play.

Willis was our top recruit last season and is still with us I expect he's about to earn time in the rotation. Mohan also showed flashes as well. So I feel like we're not as thin going into next year as we were coming in this year. Herring & Perry both are also likely ILB guys and both have some much needed speed. But ILB is almost like OL for me, rather have guys develop into it and we're in a great spot to see that with both Banks & Beasley likely returning.

So it sounds like we lead for the 5 star QB, 5 star Vic Burley, and are right at the top for 5 star Carnell Tate. Caleb Herring is a Vol without question, and he's a top 50 player who will likely move up. Not to mention we're going to land Desean Bishop, a freaking baller though he isn't ranked yet.

That '23 class is fixing to be special. This is what I hoped for with Heup. You knew that he was bringing an elite offense with QB development. QB's and skill players are going to want to play here. You have Garner, the goat defensive recruiter. This is looking like we're on our way.

That’s what I’m hoping. But it worries me that we haven’t heard of even one visiting when their is some talent in the portal right now. It is our biggest weakness still and should be our number one priority.
Hard as I might try, can not disagree with that. IMHO is they are making a calculated pass at this time and hoping for the right fit of those that will be available in early spring or there about. Our available transfer # is small and will have to be choosy. My trust factor is sky high for this staff as they go about their business !

The profile on Pruitt when he was hired was that he was reckless. Because of his previous suceess I understood that taking him on was a calculated risk. Pruitt was erratic which made for a poor cultural foundation. Fulmer erred in thinking that he could manage him. Fulmer always overestimated his ability to manage the erratic element.

Yeah, locally where I am pawn shops & ace hardware usually have some quality firearms. New England would fit the mold pretty well as I think most out are used (not sure they make anything new). I'd check with a local pawn shop that carries guns, even if they don't have what ya need they can act as the broker if you snag something online. Typically easier to do it that way with a small spot that knows ya.

Close pawn shops are ridiculous. Checked out pumps and guitars, both were priced same as new🙄

There’s a lot of affordable shotguns out there that are good quality. A good middle ground, and I’ll probably get crap for this, is the Remington 870. Also depends on what you want to use it for and if you have an action preference. Most pumps are going to be on the more affordable side. You don’t get to ridiculous territory action wise until you start talking over/ understand and some of the high end semi autos.

My dove gun is a mossberg 500. I like my pump guns with longer barrels.

Thanks and yeah, sticking with pump. Grew up on break action, probably owned 5 or 6 over the years
About fell outta the damn chair when I saw current prices.

I've long since given up any notion I know jack sh!t about hiring coaches. Likewise, nobody on this forum (or Phil Fulmer) knows jack sh!t about hiring coaches. What we've needed for a long long time -- and finally seem to have -- is someone in the leadership position who DOES know jack sh!t.

My opinion: The head coaching situation was a very visual symptom of the much bigger problem. We had a leadership vacuum at the AD and above. I believe that situation is now resolved and I expect to see improved results at all levels of our athletics, fundraising, and academics.

My opinion part deux: Danny White is the most important hire at UT in the last 20 years.

I mean, I thought it would take until after Spring Practice, but Bass is back.

mercy, some of us are just seeing what VQ was saying and know we still have some major needs to fill and it sounds like our staff is in wait and see mode, while everyone else is in the same position--- would hate for our staff to wait too long and miss out on some kids... Hopefully they are in on some LB's and others, but it will be interesting to see the comments change on here in a month or so if we don't end up picking up some good talent and are stuck grabbing what's left over... Guess we will see in a month or so...

There's a wave of transfers after the bowls and another wave after spring practice (and after further evaluation of the development of our roster). There will be plenty o'options.

Ya also picked a horrible time to shop for one...this close to Christmas and in the thick of quite a few hunting seasons.

wait why are we melting? just signed a top 10-15 class, lol. went 7-5. what else can this staff do??????????

This staff continues to outperform expectations at every single benchmark and yet there are those that still question their abilites and strategies. I get it given our history but maybe, for once, when it comes to the portal where guys may not materialize till spring...CHILL THOSE HOLY TITS.
my expectations were certainly kilt on nsd

Biggest piece of the puzzle might be Randy Boyd. Boyd's a businessman, which I don't think is all that common among university presidents (most come from academia). He owns minor league baseball teams and I think "gets" sports and the value they can provide to the university. He's probably the first UT president that knows what he is doing since Joe Johnson.

In organizations everything flows down from the top. If you have people at the top who get it, they'll hire people underneath them who get it, who then hire people underneath them who get it.

Payton - May 5th
Terry - May 9th
