Riley to USC…the inevitable Josh Heupel to OU freak out thread

If Heupel leaves, he leaves. He would leave the position in a much better spot than when he arrived and I can't fault him for taking his dream job, if in fact it is and he does. Hold strong, Vol Fans. We will weather this storm if it happens

Per my grandfather (big OU booster) they were shocked. They thought the smoke was just him wanting more money, they called his bluff and it wasn't a bluff.

They have contacted CJH but he believes it was a scramble move and they ones that have real power said no because of the past.

Overall he thinks they are going to go after a huge name. He was not sure on who they are talking to right now, but he said it should be flashy.

I have no proof but a grandfather grandson conversation.

Kingsbury ?

Hell I know I'm in the minority but I'd be okay with it. I want Heup but Kiffin is a solid plan B
I would have taken Kiffin back earlier but not after that flop fest this season. I know he was doing what he had to do to win, but that was just a bit too much of a mockery of the game. He has burned his bridges here for good now.

That could be, he said they don't want to wait till the end of the NFL season. Stoops is a good stop gap, but they want something more solid. I think it's a coach playing in a conference championship game that is their legit target from what he was saying. He doesn't know names exactly, he is more of basketball/wrestling booster than football. He doesn't care much for the sport, he actually likes Tennessee as much as OU in football because he was originally from here before the military moved him to Oklahoma. He is a big Neyland fan.

Kiffin is NOT coming back to Tennessee!

Even if Heupel decided to leave, it won’t happen.

Give it a rest already.
Yup, when they waste perfectly good golf balls and kitchen condiments throwing at you, you ain’t coming back 😂. Stay crazy Lane, just not here.

Florida, LSU, Tennessee & Auburn have all been educated that “big names” aren’t fighting each other to get in the meat grinder known as the SEC. Maybe OU is different but I’m gonna bet they get educated somewhat also.

I'd argue that Norman is not a better option to Knoxville long term. I understand short term with the sanctions but long term UT will give Heup a much longer leash and we offer a better stadium, facilities, and bigger fanbase. Not to mention Okie is in for a rude awaking when they land in the SEC. Long term Heup is much better off staying and building here. JMO
We do not offer a better stadium, we offer a bigger one and that’s it. The stadium aesthetics in 2014 blew Neyland out of the water and they’ve only renovated and expanded since then.

Well Lane had to deal with the recruiting restrictions from Carrolls regime. I think at one point could only give 15 scholarships a year. You only sign that many and every class has misses no matter who the coach is and you are up creek.
Don’t bring those facts around here. Too many think he had it made at SC.
