Pictures of Warren down on terrible spot?

Kind of like the spot on Velus' catch in the first quarter? They spotted his knee instead of the ball. It wouldn't have necessarily gotten us the first down, but we would have had 4th and a foot instead of a yard.

It's just ironic you said this because they spotted his knee in the first quarter. So very inconsistent, and he was 20 yards downfield out of position.
Actually he was not out of position. In the college game, the head linesman and line judge stay at the line of scrimmage during most of the play and work downfield as needed. Maybe the side judge or field judge should have had the spot instead depending on which one was on that side of the field. They switch sides of the field at halftime.

Sure, we can break it down. Surprised it hasn't already been done.

Here's the image that caused folks in the stands to apparently lose their collective ship:

And if you knew nothing more, you might think that's the ball in his right hand, reaching across the 40-yard line for a first down.

But other angles clearly showed the ball was actually in his LEFT hand. Tucked down in his gut. Roughly on line with the red line I'll add here:

And that's where the refs spotted the ball, more or less. I mean, it doesn't matter if the ball was a half-yard short or a full yard short. Turnover on downs, either way.

Oh, and by the way, this screen capture is already a spllit-second late. When the player's right thigh touched the ground, his right arm hadn't yet gone forward. In other words, he was even further back than this. Not a lot, but enough.

I didn't find those other angles that showed the ball near his belly in his left hand. But they showed it clearly during the delay, a few times.

The refs made some bad calls in last night's game. This was not one of them.

I posted it on Twitter that in today's world it's ridiculous that there is not television cameras on both sides of the field so there isn't any blind spots.

As has been stated the emotions of all that was happening from the start up to this point led to the uncontrolled response by mostly the student section. The views of this play that kept showing on the Jumbotron ….by these angles Warren appeared to have the line to gain. Maybe watching at home they had better views BUT the crowd did not. I’m certainly not mad at LK or Ole Miss but the flopping was clearly a game tactic that caused a lot of unrest. Lane trying to ice the kicker before half time, the clearly unexplainable call on the defensive touchdown, the Ole Miss players leaving their designated area to taunt and rile the crowd, etc etc all contributed to the chaos at the end. And…..We still had a chance. It’s over. Let’s move on.

There's logic to it. Somewhere between 1/3 and 1/2 of all spots in any given game are probably wrong by at least a few inches. College games are intolerably long as it is.

BS. That game was long because of faking injuries, and you say we don't want to get calls correct? Replay is worthless if you can't get it correct. Such incompetence.

I was talking about college games in general, not about the UT-OM game in particular.

The play went 24 yards, and was 19 yards behind. I am not going to pretend to know where official's need to be on plays, but he was either late with his response or another official had the spot. There is no way you expect an official 19 yards away to get that correctly marked.

I understand, but that is just an excuse. I know I am debating with a Bama fan anyway. But, a foot in a football game can be a big deal, especially if replay clearly shows the spot. Just another excuse.

Again, are we going to go to replay for every spot that can't be made on the field with pinpoint accuracy? Games would take an extra two hours.

I think the strip was part of it, but mainly their defense flopping to stop our momentum had everyone upset. Should be more control over it. Made the game so much longer
I propose that the player injured is out 60 seconds of game time vs. 1 play. Required to go to the injury tent and may not emerge until 5 seconds left in the one minute penalty.

No. But if you spend time to go to replay to look at the spot, at least get it correct. That's pretty logical. It shouldn't just be "did you make the line to gain?"

The spot was placed behind where his knee hit and therefore was not "correct". We can't see the exact location of the ball with what we have to work with.

It may or may have not been a first down but the spot was inaccurate unless he had the ball in his sock.

I'm just telling you what the rule is.

Stop it! The refs did not cheat us in that game. Would it have been a different spot for Alabama or Georgia we will never know. We do know we were short of the line to gain and it was a turnover on downs either way. You want to blame someone, blame the o-line for holding a play or two earlier that put us in long down and distance. If it weren’t for that, we easily get the first down. Officiating the game of football is extremely difficult. Maybe everyone who is bashing the refs should try it since they are experts. They are a few who make terrible calls sometimes and should not call on the SEC level (the florida touchdown catch for a touchdown that was clearly not a catch) but everyone makes mistakes.
You are dead wrong.

Yeah you’re probably right. I have no idea what I’m talking about. He clearly did not get the first down from all angles shown. Geez. 😳
Dead wrong. He got the first down. There are no angles shown other than cherry picked bad camera angles that nobody even knows where they came from and at what point they were taken. Watch the full speed play. He got it.

Why is there a shadow underneath him? Maybe because he wasn't down yet. Bullshi call. I can hear you better than thou's now 'oh, but his knee was down his knee was down! ' Give me a break! Bad spot, bad call. Especially in our own house!
Yep. All these people on here saying his knee was down, etc. have zero proof of that. The camera angles they are showing are a joke. Watch the full speed replay. The ball was over the yellow line before he hit the ground and it is not even close.

Not sure where you got that picture hwychile but you can watch the replay and easily see he was a little short. On all the replays you see his right hand outstretched but the ball is in the left tucked up to his gut.

That is directly off youtube and it is from the actual game camera that shows the full speed play. His knee hit the ground at the same time that his whole body hit the ground and he was across the line when anything hit. That is a first down. I took this shot directly off youtube myself.
