What is the head space of a big money booster that just says "that's it, I'm not supporting the team I love anymore!" Seems like if you have that kind of money you use it to make the team better. Wouldn't you see it as a challenge? I almost feel like the boosters have let us down to an extent. Is that not why we have hired a slew of bargain basement HCs and our stadium has become severely outdated? Idk
It's just plain disinterest, IMO. Add to it we've relied on super boosters for a long time. If you lose a 2-3 then that can really hurt. I had a conversation with a media guy the other day. We were discussing the NIL. He was asking about my view of the NIL. I told him there were two reasons people would funnel money to players, one being a legitimate ROI investment for an advertising/marketing opportunity. The other being simply giving money to a player with no expectations of any return. There are very few that can pony up the money to just give players with no expectation of ROI. The legitimate business that invest in a player expecting that investment to generate new revenues probably are questioning the risk it being so new. I think it will settle out and questions/concerns will settle out, but until then we have to rely on big money that doesn't expect anything, just a permissible way to funnel kids money to secure/keep them here. Those types of donors aren't on every street corner. Those types of donors, while they may not expect ROI businesswise, they do expect an ROI on the playing field. When they go to games and continuously see the VOLs get their brains beat in by all their rivals year after year, it becomes tiresome and not enjoyable and they question as to why they continue to throw money at it. Keep in mind that these kids are getting promises of NIL deals before they sign. We're talking about 100's of thousands of dollars to the elite players. It takes a lot of buy-in from even the richest of boosters to "sponsor" a kid that hasn't even played a down. All JMO.

I predict that this board is going to be white-hot pissed about us not running the ball enough

This board is full of morans.

Against BG we ran it too much: 64 times for 326
Pitt was "not enough" 33 times for 136
TTU it was 47 times for 202 but "that's a scrub team"
Florida it was 37 times for 148 "more than Bama!"

I think in this offense they sweet spot is somewhere between 40 to 45 attempts, higher if the game is going our way.

I just hope we can get good yardage outta the RBs. Cause against Pitt & TTU the bulk of the rushing yards came from our QBs. Need to see the RBs getting more chunks.

I think we said this last time when Pruitt was here. We're pretty much dead already minus the TV money. UT admin is milking the remaining football donors and fan money dry.
With each failed hire, the Vols move further and further away from relevancy. With each year it becomes more and more difficult to recover. Have we went to the point of no return? Who knows? That chapter has yet to be written.

Was that a recent thing? I only ask because with the newly proposed rule to replace up to 7 transfer players and sign potentially 32 it makes a difference. That would be 3 from this fall (Maurer/Hodge) and put us up to 28 already if CFA counts towards this as well.

10-24-21...story literally dropping day before our Florida game. Despite him graduating in 2019 (after 4 years) and then 2020 not being on the team at all apparently.

No idea. Dumbest s*** ever what we did. Still can’t believe it. They need to end it soon though and tell the NCAA to kick rocks.

Dang, all to get rid of Pruitt? I said the same thing about telling the ncaa to shove it and was quoted and said "we can't" but meanwhile Baylor got off with nothing for something very heinous.

There’s never a point of no return.

Win consistently with 8-4 type seasons (this part should *not* be difficult) and then get lucky and go 10-2 and everyone will throw money at the program again bc we are all desperate for a winner and signs of life.

No idea. Maybe to get rid of Pruitt and Fulmer and save a buyout. Beyond stupid though.

Our defensive staff can recruit. I am not worried about their evaluations and recruiting. Offensive side is what I worry about. We will eventually get some studs for the defense. Probably Nolen and Caldwell and some others.

Seems like our highest rated commits so far in the current class are all in the offensive side though.

I agree but getting to that 8-4, 9-3 has proven to be difficult. It's a catch 22. You need players to get there. You need money to get those players. People with money are reluctant to spend it. People with money want to see wins. It's hard to recruit given our circumstances. We've been in the cycle we've been in for a very long time. We have to break it. The NIL is going to make it harder to climb out.

You can look at my post history, I've been very consistent. With each failed hire the path back becomes more and more difficult. The NIL is not helping us as it should. The university can't fund these players, they're relying on boosters that love the song "Once bitten, twice shy".

(Dodgers fan here)

So the post-season reward for the two teams that have battled for the best record in the National League all year is that one of them will get beat in a one-game series by the hottest team in baseball, and the other will lose the NLDS to the hottest team in baseball.

I hate sports!
The one game winner take all WC is the dumbest thing baseball has ever done.

You are a big Disney guy right? We’re trying to go back in November since Covid ruined our trip. Can’t find anything on property. Any recommendations off property? We are looking at the Grove. Maybe the Swan & Dolphin.

Hey bud I know you didn't ask myself, but if you are looking for a more value level the Holiday Inn resort lake Buena vista is 5 minutes from Disney property and has a pretty decent pool and updated rooms. not your typical "holiday inn" from the old days. when we want a quick weekend get away to Disney and aren't staying on property its always our go to. You don't spend much time in the room other than sleeping so if I'm not staying on Mickey property for the "experience" I usually save the money and go that route. hope that helps!

Has Chris Akoranegheneeeeaa been here long enough to expect him to contribute? Even with the players that transferred it looks like Pruitt’s staff had a lot of bust.
Lampley is another one. He was a solid 4-star as a center or OG, and now in his third year he apparently isn’t even in the two-deep, at least at center where we really need some depth behind Cooper.
