When are we going to escape this hell we’re currently in where we look competitive for the first half against the big three (UF, UGA and Bama) only to turn around and get embarrassed the second half?

The story is always the same. Game is close coming out of halftime and inexplicably a horrific play occurs during the third quarter and we crumble. Tonight was Calloway dropping the pass on 4th down. We probably would still have lost the game since our defense couldn’t stop their offense but at least the final score would have been respectable.

Check out and check back in sometime in the back half of this decade. That’s honestly my best guess right now.

Ok perhaps I should clarify my op

this scheme (with CJH)running it doesn’t work. It didn’t work at mizzu against good defenses
I will stop after this but that team averaged 9 ppg in sec play before JH improved them to over 20+ ppg in sec play his first year and over 23+ ppg in his second year…..He was coaching a decent QB with very low rated players everywhere else. They were one of the least talented teams in SEC history.

Our team:
QB: needs a lot to help
RB: good - probably need one more really good back
TE: good - could use another good one
OL: needs a lot to help
WR: needs a lot to help

DT: good - could use some help too though
DE: needs a lot to help
LB: needs a lot of help
CB: good - could use more talent
Safety: average - good young talent but need more depth

Lots of holes. Thank goodness for the 32 signing coming and another offseason to develop some young talent. We need Willis, Mohan, and Garland to make major strides at linebacker for next year.

Yes, My favorite moment of the night 8 straight runs and just hit UF in the mouth. Was one of the things as far as physicality from JH and his offense that I wanted to see.

Yeah Evans is awesome. He’s a really good back.

I’m in the middle of convincing myself he’s the best one we’ve had since Kamara…

We better not spend all week with Milton running with the 1’s if Hooker is out. We spent way too much time on him since he got here. Give the reps to Bailey and stop playing him with the back ups. Milton is terrible. At least let Bailey run with the ones and see what he can do. Milton is awful. Hopefully Hooker is ok and can play next week.
It sucks but Bailey ain’t the one.

Overall, I am pretty discouraged. We left points on the field because we cannot execute consistently That has to change if we are going to improve. The team did not quit and that is good. We still lost by 24 to a hated rival. There were some encouraging signs, but not nearly enough. Missouri will be a tough game, but one we really need to win if we are going to get to 6. I still think we can but it will be tough as we have no depth and little room for error. Go Big Orange!!

From my vantage point, you are arguing with a ghost!

put the man on ignore - seems to be causing you some stress

He’s been wrong on everything about Tennessee football for the past decade and he’s a complete bore!

Games like this are why JH has good offensive stats
Yeah, because we all know that Coach Heup, like most other CFB coaches, has a primary goal of looking better than he actually is instead of actually trying to win football games.

I think we would've faded regardless of whether or not he drops it. I honestly don't know why anyone is upset. We did far better than I thought we would. We were in the game for much of it and then we got out manned. That's the way it goes when you're 20+ players down against everyone you play (minus FCS schools).

Play calling has been good so I don't understand why anyone is arguing that. We have an issue at WR (someone has to break out and become the go to guy - well, someone other than Warren at TE) and we have an OL that is functional with Cooper but atrocious without him. Even so, we've had the opportunity to score constantly, execution has held us back. On defense, we've exceeded expectations.

OL can't be fixed quickly but the WR situation can and should improve by midseason. If not, we need to hit the portal hard for WRs.
Exactly… Callaways drop never happens and we have at least a shot.

Tightends have been very averaging….. we have schemed them open some but they have struggled blocking.

Neither is Milton but I would rather them pour into him like they did Milton. Let him run with the 1’s for a while. Milton is beyond bad. Please don’t say but he does well in practice cause I may go crazy. Dude sucks.

I really love Heupel and his staff. This team lost so many transfers at important positions. We had a tumultuous offseason. These guys expect to be good this year, and it’s all bc Heupel got them to buy in. Our staff is gonna be good, we just gotta let them get their guys. I’m drunk, but this is my favorite team since 09. They fight for every inch and there’s sooooo much potential in these schemes.

Hell those numbers alone can be traced to what he scored against tenn

I agree with Rucker.

He's 100% right. When Cooper was out there and healthy, we more than held our own against Florida's defensive line. Really need some younger guys like Perry, Parker, and Crawford to come along fast so that we can survive an injury or two. Lane and Harris just don't appear to be capable of getting it done in this league based off of what we've seen of them so far.

How much would it suck to have the NCAA hand down sanctions for recruiting right when we could add huge classes to bolster these units. The timing would be very Tennessee

I think once the freshmen come on, we will be pretty set with Warren and them. They just all neees a year. Next year, I think between Warren, Bell, Campbell, and Nixon that we will get good production.

I can assure you playing those starters the last 2 minutes and trying to score that last TD wasnt “trying to win”. In fact “trying to win” would have been protecting our thin roster and running the damn clock out
