I absolutely understand that this can be criticized based on opposition strength, but bottom line is it's improvement, and we need to get used to having nice things again.

So, congratulations Coach Garner and the DL, you've shown up to play the scheduled opponent and done your job well. Keep it up.

Echoing several others...this is encouraging and it's a step in the right direction, as opposed to the old trend of playing down to or below whatever competition is on the opposing sideline. There's preparation and development happening, and that's a good thing.

Coach Garner is developing them! I think he’s one of the most important acquisitions we made player or coach-wise this season. Looking forward to how his guys progress as the season goes on.
It is worth noting that the line at Auburn is essentially his product as well. So, 2 of the top 3 (at least this week) can be attributed to Coach Garner. Glad he is here!

Better than playing this competition and being mid-pack or lower. They're also improving under Garner on a steady basis. Looks like Solomon is out of the doghouse now and can be an asset.
I hope the PT he got versus TTU is an indication of that. Solomon is a big dude and has definitely not lived up to his expectations coming out of HS. It would be great for him and for us if he got aggressive about improving his game this year.

Baring injuries, we will get better on defense every game we play. I just hope we get some more help for next year. We lose a lot of players

We weren’t third best in anything last year.

Better

does this logic mean that whoever was UT's line coach last year should get credit for the DL this year?

In most cases, yes it would, but considering he was new on the job and Beldar fired him at halftime of the 3rd or 4th game then no I suppose he doesn't.

Yes this is based off of very subpar competition. But you know what? I will take it. I would be willing to bet the past few years, we would have been thrilled to have our DL being talked about positively. I mean we have had bad DL play against virtually everyone we have played for years. I mean how many times have we seen super weak teams just abuse our DL?

Is our DL elite or even really good? No. But it’s sure nice to see them playing better.
