I never do this but I put some $$$ on the Vols at +20.5

I have listens to several smart numbers guys who love the Vols +20. Folks who could care less about Vols winning. Apparently several do as some spots have dropped to 18.5 now. 3 TDs is a lot the week after playing Bama in a game where you know our offense is going to run high tempo and score

I don't trust the OL enough to think we score enough to cover. I worry that we won't get a push in run game and will have some quick 3 and outs and wear our defense out early on. If we had a better OL then I think we'd have a chance to win.

My strategy is to bet against us. That way if I lose the bet it means we played well. If I win the bet at least I got paid.
I place a small bet against us if we are favored, if we cover I gladly pay for the win. If we lose, I at least make some money, if we win but dont cover, we win and i get payed.

I just wouldn't touch the Vols at all when it comes to the spread - not for or against. When you have a team like ours it's playing with fire. We have some talent but we've been an unstable program that has been either overperforming or underperforming against the spread because we've lacked institutional stability and coaching that would make us a more predictable team. That makes it very hard when it comes to pinning down performance in any given game.
I totally agree

I used to do the same. As I have gotten older and my priorities have changed, I Just don’t have the time to work out 3 hours a day anymore. Was told by a trainer that when older you can’t out work a bad diet. So I try and limit my intake of the stuff. Plus it doesn’t taste as good as it used too.
Same!

I think that was an offer to carry the mantle for you when needed.
I feel bad because I don’t do as good a job as I did while I was in Thailand. It’s just a different season and I can’t invest as much research into it, or posting for that matter.

If I can’t get to it on Sundays, Thursday mornings are my next best time slot. I think tomorrow looks good

I’m sure some have the time to exercise to do that, but most do not. I know it’s not a formula to lose weight.

I have run 10+ miles per week for a while now. Some are about 10 and some are closer to 17. I might have lost a pound or two here and there, but I’ve mostly stayed static.

Plus, I know exercise helps cholesterol and heart health, but I’m not convinced it eliminates it totally from eating fast foods every day.
"Run" was an oversimplification by me. Weight training is actually the better way to lose weight and raise metabolism. If you lifted 3 times a week and ran 2 times a week (and had done so your whole life), you could probably eat whatever you wanted. Almost everyone I know who has maintained that lifestyle since becoming an adult can eat horribly and not worry about it.

This issue is insanely more complex than any of us are making it out to be though. Hundreds of factors, and we're limiting it to just 2.

Tidbits –

Nothing new from Vol Calls tonight except Danny White was on for much of Heupel’s time. He was trying to sell the changes in ticketing policies. He said our season ticket base is down to 52,000 and we need to build that back up so that we can return to having the largest football budget in the conference. Not really anything from Heupel other than the tweet someone posted earlier. Kodi Burns was on but I didn’t hear anything other than what everyone already knows.

Other than Vol Calls I thought it was interesting to see that Hooker has the 2nd highest passer rating in the conference and Emory Jones is #12 out of 13 that qualified for the rankings. Georgia doesn’t have a qualifying QB. Nationally, Hooker is #16 and Jones is #99 for passer rating. For yards per rush attempt (including sacks) Hooker ranks as the 2nd leading QB rusher in the conference behind KJ Jefferson while Jones is 3rd. Hooker is the 12th overall rusher in the conference in ypa while Jones is 20th. Hooker has 18 carries, Jones 42, and Jefferson has 24. Hooker has 1 INT, Jones has 5. Hooker has 5 passing TDs and 1 rushing TD while Jones has 2 each.

Florida fans want Anthony Richardson (recruited by Heupel at UCF) and they’re afraid if he doesn’t get to play he’ll transfer, maybe to us.

Richardson is exceptionally athletic but he injured a hamstring in the spring and re-injured it as he crossed the goal line on a long TD run against South Florida. I don’t expect him to play against us but if he does I think it may be similar to the Kelly Bryant situation at Missouri a couple years ago. Mullen will try to keep him from running, at least try to keep him from hitting sprint speed. Sprint speed is the danger zone for hamstrings as I understand it and it seems to happen on deceleration. It takes a lot to recover from a hamstring injury and some don’t. See Evan Berry after 2015. I’ve read that once a player injures a hamstring in most cases that will mark the peak of their athletic ability.

Ankle sprains are easier to come back from but according to the literature for a minor sprain it can still take 2-4 weeks for a full recovery and in our case if Joe can’t run without inhibitions Hooker is probably the better choice. jmo.

Someone noted that the line for our game had inched a bit off its high and had maybe moved a couple points in the Tennessee direction. Bill Connelly tweeted (59k followers) his SP+ picks earlier today and basically said for those betting ATS take Tennessee and anything over 13.

Last note. Everybody knows we’re going to lose this game and I’m not going to argue otherwise; however, I will say this, I won’t be completely convinced until the clock on the scoreboard runs out. jmo.

Here are the highlights from Richardson in the first 2 games this year (FAU & USF). On the last play you can see where his hamstring blew up again. He has phenomenal athletic ability but that hamstring if not allowed to heal properly could destroy his career which is why I don’t think Mullen will be eager for him to play unrestricted anytime soon. jmo.

Correct. When I did have time to put a workout in, the strength training helped my lungs more. Running was just a grind I didn’t enjoy. I miss working out, It gave me peace and was a great hobby that made me feel good.
