Actually no this relates to my duties in the architectural review committee in our fascist HOA. I joined the review committee several years ago to try and move the needle towards the HOA leaving people alone.
A tasker from the HOA board to the committee was to define some community “standards” for replacement doors. These tasks usually scream of imposing personal tastes on the community as a whole so I prefer to respond with professional standards where I can.
I tend to lean towards “it’s their property let them do what they want” when it comes to taste. I’d prefer to point to performance standards over arbitrary taste as a euphemism for “quality”
Interesting timing on this question. We saw a commercial for a device that goes on doors to supposedly keep someone from kicking it in ... uh huh; and my wife asked if they still make wood exterior doors. I told her I was sure they did, but I'm not really sure why someone would pick one over a metal door if security is an issue although I'd guess that the door hardware is generally the weak point anyway ... and if all else fails, windows.
