@marcusluvsvols you having any issues getting gyp? Contractor is telling us the brands we specified are out.
Hey are you aware of some industry standard for residential doors? I’m sure there is a security standard but something that encompasses “quality” look and finish also?@marcusluvsvols you having any issues getting gyp? Contractor is telling us the brands we specified are out.
Actually no this relates to my duties in the architectural review committee in our fascist HOA. I joined the review committee several years ago to try and move the needle towards the HOA leaving people alone. You getting something custom made?
Gotcha. Hoas suck.Actually no this relates to my duties in the architectural review committee in our fascist HOA. I joined the review committee several years ago to try and move the needle towards the HOA leaving people alone.
A tasker from the HOA board to the committee was to define some community “standards” for replacement doors. These tasks usually scream of imposing personal tastes on the community as a whole so I prefer to respond with professional standards where I can.
I tend to lean towards “it’s their property let them do what they want” when it comes to taste. I’d prefer to point to performance standards over arbitrary taste as a euphemism for “quality”

In Texas you cannot get away from them unless you move into a 75+ year old deeded neighborhood or move out into unincorporated areas. The state encourages their formation as it removes a good chunk of their administrative duties off to the HOA. Abd they are granted crazy powers by law.You need to move.
You got a problem with my red door that has finally faded to the proper shade of "rose"Actually no this relates to my duties in the architectural review committee in our fascist HOA. I joined the review committee several years ago to try and move the needle towards the HOA leaving people alone.

Last I checked, TN is still open.In Texas you cannot get away from them unless you move into a 75+ year old deeded neighborhood or move out into unincorporated areas. I’d approve red or even rose without an issue. Purple, pink, lime green, etc… we’re probably going to have a discussion on. That assumes you can get the other two reviewers ti approve a metal slab door painted redYou got a problem with my red door that has finally faded to the proper shade of "rose"

Sounds like a neighborhood I used to live in, everyone was a pompous douche bag that thought they were better than anyone else. It's amazing how people think they are better because of where they live.I’d approve red or even rose without an issue. Purple, pink, lime green, etc… we’re probably going to have a discussion on. Our neighborhood can be a tad… pretentious.
Most people are fine. Some of the HOA officers had a bit of a hard ass tone. That has moderated a bit over the last few years. And now we’ve got people like me trying to get involved with more of a live and let live attitude. It’s more balanced now but it is kinda funny that the most pretentious ones seem to live in the lower priced homes. We live in one of seven custom homes. My property is probably number 1 or 2 in price per square foot in the neighborhood. And we are one of the most laid back owners. The neighbors on either side with us make up properties 1-3 on valuation and we’d like everyone to just leave each other alone. And let’s be clear it’s our properties that would be the most negatively impacted by poor architecture and maintenance choices.Sounds like a neighborhood I used to live in, everyone was a pompous douche bag that thought they were better than anyone else.
