Tee Hodge In Transfer Portal

No one wants to wait for there turn.

Players are more willing to wait their turn when you are winning. When you are coming off a bottom feeding season where the team clearly underachieved everybody thinks they deserve playing time. We will see this until we have established a winning program again.

We had Shawn Bryson, Jamal Lewis, Travis Henry, Travis Stephens (who used to post), and others. All those guys waited their turns, but the program was winning, players were patient because it was expected.

Tee doesn't strike me as a quitter.

Coaches may have encouraged to look around.

ONE thing I'm a bit worried about with Heupel...he doesn't seem to value power backs. He seems to put a premium on speed and quickness even over size.

His RBs at UCF averaged 180 lbs.
Now his top 3 backs here are the 3 smallest ones on scholarship. Small, Wright are at 200 lbs. Evans is probably 215 but they look at him as a "power back". Everytime they have said that in interviews about Evans i kind of pause. 215-220 isn't little...but it's not exactly a "power back" anymore. Evans is fast though....that's the difference between he and Hodge.

But Hodge was still a versatile body and weapon to have on offense.
Not happy about this departure.

Wonder if he felt or actually was behind both Beckwith and Whitehead in the bigger body group of backs? Both of thse guys are more athletic than he if my memory from their recruiting days is not off. If so, he was behind 5 guys, not counting the back from Maryville College I have seen coaches discuss in the rotation possibilities. Hate to lose a local kid who appears to be a quality human as well, but I can see where he might have read the tealeaves and wants a jump on finding playing time somewhere... I now live 9 miles from MHS and 7 miles from Alcoa so I have historically gone to both to catch some games.... South Doyle is oddly only 5 miles away from my place in Blount County, but have only been to one game in the last 15 years. Catch some SD games on Diamond Clear. Maryville has never been on there and Alcoa dropped out sometime last year....

Yeah, based on the fall camp reports about his accuracy, it doesn't seem like he is long for here. I think that he will move on especially with Tayven Jackson coming in next year.

Wait, what? I read all those reports and I didn't see any reports of problems with his accuracy. I seem to recall that the coaches are high on him. Though I do think he's QB 3 here, I don't recall him being reported to have accuracy problems. What did I miss?

I kept hoping Tee would get more opportunities to show us what he can do.
And, some folks do go into the portal, but come back out again.

The Bleav in Tennessee podcast said he was struggling making throws on air in practice at the practice they were at. These guys got to see more at practice than the regular media.

VFL34. It wasn’t Travis Stephens (I bought in too after initially doubting him). Someone on the board who had contact with him asked the real McCoy …didn’t know we existed.

I think he was.
Despite those ridiculous reports of him running 4.47... Anybody with eyes could see he didn't have that on the field.

But he's just a solid back. He can do everything except hit the homerun.

Very curious to see where he ends up.

Wherever Hodge lands, I hope he gets onto the field and shows out. If UT is not a good situation for him now, that is no knock on him. Would have liked to see him play, but it's not happening here.

Not surprised. Another Maryville guy that doesn’t pan out.

yeah, they've got such a lame program over there. In my recollection, neither George Quarles nor Derek Hunt have ever mentioned that they are preparing young men for greatness in college football.
