Recruiting forum off topic thread (no politics, covid, or hot button issues)

But it’s not as easy as that nowadays.Look I’m not trying to be a jerk and can’t say what I want to say without getting somewhat political but things aren’t easy.If I was to say things aren’t————and ————(fill in the blanks with two colors)some people would call me racist. It’s ridiculous.
Some folks nowadays are more polarized than ever it seems. History repeats, so, folks should arm themselves with knowledge and stay informed on their own. You cannot expect others to do so for you (in general).

I'll be perfectly honest here. As a Christian I have felt judged as a weak minded, sheltered, uneducated idiot that would give up my beliefs if only I were exposed to more places, cultures, and beliefs. Even told that on here. Now I am judged as full of hate because I don't believe a man can become a woman or vice versa because of an operation or drugs. Sure some things change but not the biology. That doesn't mean I hate them or do not empathize with their feelings. But I sure am thankful I am not having to teach the class of 8th grade girls 2 miles down the road that are insisting on being called "they" just because they are on a power trip.

So basically if a person has an opinion on a certain matter they should just keep it to themself is what I’m getting. These days if a person has a differing opinion it can come with being called a bigot, racist,or maybe being accused of hate speech just because it doesn’t fall in line with the mainstream.
Those people have been watching too much fake news and done messed around and got themselves brainwashed. They have been taught that if people do not think like them then just use one of those names or 1 of the 100 phobias that they came up with.

I posted something like this yesterday, but people should be allowed to say whatever they want even if people don't like it. I don't use racial slurs or slurs against any person and don't think that others should either. I think people should tell the truth and held to account if they lie. If people don't care for a particular group of people then they should be free to say that. We are supposed to have freedom of speech. There is no guarantee that we are going to like or agree with everything everybody else says. Our country would be rather boring if that were the case. The moment it becomes a problem is when action is taken. Hurting another person or damaging their property is already illegal. We already have laws against assault, murder, trespassing, vandalism, etc. We don't need a separate class of crimes called hate crimes. Crimes in general imply hate. I just worry that if we start picking and choosing which words are considered acceptable and which are considered hate then we will quickly find that we no longer actually have free speech. Who gets to decided? Why them? What if the other side gets into power? Do they reverse everything? What is to stop this from being used to silence political dissent? This is a dangerous road we are on and I think we need to reverse course quickly before we either find ourselves under a tyrannical government or in a very bloody civil war. Or both.

I agree with you 100%

Yes and it is getting completely ridiculous. I’m not racist and I think that anyone who makes a judgment on someone else based on skin color is ignorant. I am white but I have black friends that are important to me.

Not sure I fully grasp what you're saying.

Feeling judged, is on you. In how you feel SaS. Not condescending, I feel like you're right on in many ways. And have clarevoyance enough so I dont need to expound on that being as you already know.

Truly, if others ARE in fact judging that shows a complete and total disregard of respect for themselves. All we can control is how we present ourselves individually, either by example or by spoken word.

If people want to call themselves turkey leg, cumquat, or dip ****...does it really impact us? Is the inevitable degredation, fall into the abyss of society going to cease by us sweating what others think? They have a choice. I think it starts and stops here in our own homes....in how we teach our own children. All I can do is protect them for a shoet time.

Sooner or later, they're going to learn what they learn. I just pray that their incumbent world view, of which they will compare and contrast to make decisions is such that they will choose right over wrong...

Like what you said about empathizing with others, makes sense.
Sorry I didn't mean to give the impression that I let it bother me. For example, I was a freshman in college when the professor asked if there were any Christians in class. A few of us raised our hands and were told he was going to change our minds. I just smiled. I know that I know that I know what I believe so I do not let that bother me. My point was the very people that are demanding that you do not judge them are actually judging you.

Exactly
Ever read 1984 or Brave New World? If not it's a good time to do so.

What a horrible college professor.

Classmate of mine did that before my evolution class. He was trying to make a point that Christians wouldn't take that class. Backfired on him because I said I was a Christian. The class also made me wonder why so many people take it as fact. I know the reason but scientifically it makes me scratch my head on why it's so widely accepted.

Because it is the only alternative. It is far from proven

I have read 1984, Fahrenheit 454, Animal Farm, and several others like those. My favorite is Atlas Shrugged because it is sooooo spot on to how the world is behaving nowadays. Everyone is a victim and is owed something. Looters/Moochers will do their best to feed off the producers if they are allowed to.

Same here , I have black friends but they got enough sense to know who the real racists are.

Evolution requires Faith as well

growing up in Church as many of us have, it appears that many Christians are indeed the judgmental ones, ironically. I know where you're coming from. But the phrase holier than thou can often be used to describe those than turn up a nose. Further, there is a hypocrisy inherent in some Church goers that doesnt appeal to those whom we should be showing the righteous way.

Anyway I always enjoy looking at both sides of coin to see everyones side of the story.

I find it as a lack of faith. They take what they "see" and make an "explanation" of it. There's no faith to it because it's what they "see"
By “faith”, I mean there are missing links that are impossible to explain away in our current state, so therefore the “believer” in evolution very much has to to have “faith” in its existence. It’s almost a religion if you think about it that way.

I agree Science has become too much of a Religion. So much that the entire basis of science, question everything, is now considered extreme

This is really where I come at it from, and exactly what the gender self-identify movement evokes to me. A government that can compel you to say that a biological man is no different than a biological woman (“trans-women are women”) is a government that can compel you to say that 2+2=5.

It’s funny that all the earliest scientists were monks trying to discover the ways of God. I don’t believe that Science and God are mutually exclusive.
