MLB cancels ASG in Atlanta

Literally happened in Rome.

Voting rights expanded, interest groups voted for their own benefit, bam boom bang suddenly it's a dictator in charge of an empire instead of a republic.

Few study and fewer understand history.

Ours is one of the oldest (if not oldest continuous) and longest lasting democratic forms of government ever and it's following in the same steps as many that have failed before.

Honestly, because that's about the least educated vote one can cast.

Oh, there's an election? Might as well
Yeah, but there might be a few cases of legitimate reasons. It will obviously be mainly first time voters and people who have recently moved.

It's not the point. You're main point of contention with the GA legislation ended up being the state taking control away from the localities. Why wouldn't you feel the same with HB1?
My main contention was with the state giving themselves the ability to go in and throw out the local group and replace them with someone they get to select. And them taking away a person elected by statewide vote (SOS) and replacing them with a person of their choice.
You can see the difference and the problem.

It's deliberate. The founding fathers designed a government with certain protections that helped resist some of humanity's imperfections, but no system will ever stand long.

The problem is posters like the tasty troll in this thread that accelerate things through a deadly combination of idiocy and ignorance. And now idiots and ignorants are being manufactured wholesale by our school systems.

How is that different than the feds telling states how they must run their elections? It's still centralizing power.

And with the Feds doing it control leaves the state voters entirely, particularly for smaller states where the votes of their representatives are dwarfed by that of other states.

If the concern is loss of local control and voter input then HB1 is the mother of all concerns

All rights should be treated the same. Otherwise you are creating second class citizens and playing favorites, which the government shouldnt do.
So you want the same requirements for everything? It’s ironic that many of the same people that want less strict gun laws want more strict voting laws, and vice versa. Hypocrisy is alive and well in this country.

Criminal background. For the most part felons can't vote and nobody is checking criminal backgrounds when people register to vote.
If they’ve payed their criminal debt, why shouldn’t they be allowed to vote?

Ignorant crazy people voting is just as or more dangerous than ignorant crazy people owning a firearm.

I am all for background checks for voting, having to show ID, not allowing felons to vote, etc.

When has MLB ever moved an All Star game due to politics? This is new territory and it's not good
It’s also their business and hilarious that so many people that are “so done with professional sports” are again up in arms about professional sports.
