The Official CoronaZoneVirus Thread

I couldn’t take that myself. It’s actually irritating to the point of being a distracting nuisance. Hoping for better days ahead.
OK I was wondering about the logistics of that and how long it might take.
What is the bright light on the left side of the pic?

Souce might recommend layering some Pillsbury dough on it.
That is, unless the can explodes before you can use it.
THEN you call the lawyer.

I know. Been on bp meds for over a decade and constantly battling to keep cholesterol numbers good enough to stay off those meds as long as possible.
Same here. My HDL/LDL ratio has always been great, with high-ish but ok total cholesterol. I went on omega-3 supplements and found that I was one of the lucky souls whose LDL and total cholesterol increases as a result, even though the HDL ratio is better than ever, and VLDL and triglycerides almost unmeasurable. Dammit.

But I’m not going on statins. I’ll fight it to my last breath.

—but otherwise, try to get the pressure from the mask loops off that spot. Possible odd option, if it seems like a fungal infection: unsweetened (unflavored) yogurt. Otherwise a good steroid cream and remove the mechanical irritation.

—a strip of elastic or even a shoestring, tied into each loop and circling around the back of your head.

Just recently got put on statins, pleading ignorance here. What is the issue??? vs the alternative

Oh, sorry. For me, the main issue is avoiding meds if I can improve diet and exercise instead.

But statins can cause muscle pain, sometimes (very rarely) muscle damage. I have spinal arthritis that triggers a lot of neuromuscular crap in my legs, and the last thing I want to do is add more muscle pain.

But mainly, I’d rather address underlying problems rather than trying to smother them with meds, if that makes any sense. So when threatened with metformin for pre-diabetes, I just beat my blood sugar levels down instead. (Many can’t do this; I was lucky.)

—along with diet change, one possibility for lowering lipids and specifically cholesterol is getting a lot of plant sterols and stanols into your body. (It’s hard to get enough just from diet.) The molecules are similar to cholesterol molecules, and taking a supplement before a high-cholesterol meal can reduce the absorption of cholesterol in the intestines. I’m trying a plant sterol/stanol product from Nature’s Way called Cholest-Off. Too soon to see if it works.

The other is fiber, fiber, fiber. Not (just) for happy poopies, but because fiber sort of “escorts” cholesterol right on out of the digestive system.

FWIW, I only read peer-reviewed studies in medical and scientific journals (Google at the ready) plus patient-oriented info from reputable organizations (Patient Care and Health Information - Patient Care and Health Information - Mayo Clinic, Health Information and Medical Information - Harvard Health, etc.) Not to diss other sources but there’s a lot of woo-woo BS out there.
