Rick Barnes discussion [merged]

Lol, what a horrible take

Feel free to go with the projection and mind reading posters if you like...I am quite comfortable sticking with facts, data, and the most plausible explanations to fill in any gaps that are unknown.

Given you seem to take issue with my post...please provide your best evidence to show the players have checked out, we take poor shots on offense, and that Fulky's poor play is clearly due to bad coaching - I will wait.

I don’t need to give much evidence considering the players haven’t “checked out”.

That’s just another BS narrative the Barnes haters like to throw out.

Hey, I think that we can all agree that this back-and-forth bickering is still a million times better than having to read a Bubble Watch thread every day and cling to the fortunes of random A-10 schools.

I think you may be having a stroke or something... so repetitive... and never making any coherent arguments. Seek help

I need to seek help however it’s completely normal for you to follow me around on this board like a lost puppy?

You’re a weird person who spends too much time worrying about what I post in the basketball forum. Again, if your brain is capable of using the ignore button then I suggest you use it.

Right back at ya lady

So is Barnes come tourney time
People said the same thing about Tony Bennett, especially after he earned the infamous distinction of being the first coach in history to lose to a 16 seed. He’s the reigning national champion now. I reject the notion that someone can be a good coach in the regular season and a bad coach in the tournament. Good coaches are good coaches, period. There can be any number of reasons why teams go home earlier than expected in a one-and-done format. While I think March Madness is one of the most exciting times in sports, it’s honestly a terrible way to determine a champion. There’s a reason the NBA plays 7 game series in their playoffs. Because it makes it much more likely that you end up with the actual best team winning. There’s too much luck involved in basketball for a single elimination format to be an effective way of determining the best team.

Fact: Pearl ( Auburn) beat down Barnes( UT) for the SECT Championship 2 years ago and took his Auburn team to the Final 4. What has Barnes done?

Ok. Let’s say I agree Pearl has had better results to date, but he also has a Show Cause and two year self imposed tourney ban. You still can’t have him! Argue for replacing Barnes with someone else. Pearl had his day here. He blew it.

Wish more people would get this. It makes sense for some NBA coaches to be better (like Nick Nurse) or worse (like Mike Budenholzer) coaches in the postseason due to adjustments that can take place over a 7 game series. In a single elimination tourney like the college game has, there is no functional difference in coaching in the regular season vs the tourney, other than perhaps the quality of opponent

I get it, its the same reason Cal has 1 NC at Kentucky.

I'm so disappointed that we may only be a 5-seed that I've become a little bit nostalgic for BTO's bubble watch threads to see who needed to lose so we might have a chance to play our way into the field from the "Next Four Out".

Barnes is the problem. He has taken the fun out of it for these guys and you can tell by the way they are playing. Early in the season they were running up and down the court and having fun. Barnes constantly jumps their azz and jerks them out of games if they make a mistake. Instead Of playing loose and having fun they play scared. That’s why , except for Bailey, they are scared to shoot and pass up open shots all the time. It’s getting old.
How do you rationalize CRB getting Chandler and Mashack to sign for next year if JJJ, Springer and Keon hate playing for him? I’d imagine those guys all talk and they would share their opinions of being in the program with future recruits.

Because he is a frustrated fan posting with emotion and just guessing. I would yank Johnson out too, when he turns it over 7 times. But I am pretty sure Johnson was back in one time in less than a minute. LOL.

You do realize CRB signed Chandler and Mashack before this season started?

Barnes 0-5 vs, Pearl in his last 5 head to head matchups

If we’re counting both of their previous jobs, Barnes made 16 of 17 tourneys at Texas.
I couldnt care less about Texas. Bottom line is Barnes can’t beat Pearl. Pearl is a much better Coach on game day than Barnes
