at the end of this season. Belmont's Casey Alexander should be hired to coach the Vols.
That’s just a wonderful idea! Are you old enough to remember what the basketball team looked like prior to his arrival. We are a national brand for men’s basketball now and Branes has been the best coach at UT across all sports in the last 20 years. So you think Barnes should retire even though he is still recruiting at a top to level and had a very good recruiting class coming in next year. Let’s talk about recruiting for a minute. Barnes in the last 2 years has brought in 3 Five *’s and has another one coming next year. How many 5* did the prior 3 staffs bring in combined? Also he has flat out owned Kentucky since arriving at UT. Remember when fans was saying the same thing about Fulmer and we ended up firing him and the next 20 years of football have been miserable. Those 8-4 and 9-3 seasons look really good now don’t they or was you not old enough to remember the year fulmer was fired?

You are saying Tennessee should settle for making the Sweet Sixteen every few years.
Being 1 of the top 16 teams in the country is pretty good. Just like being being 1 of the top 4 teams in the playoffs in football is pretty good. Remember when UT was in the SEC championship game in 2007 and then Fulmer was fired the following year? How did that work out for us. Wouldn’t it be great to just make it to Atlanta again?

I’ll take making the field nearly every year and then the Sweet 16s, EEs, and FFs will follow. Without Barnes TN will do well to make the NCAAT field and won’t see a #1 ranking again any time soon. They can also say good bye to signing 5 star recruits every year.

With all the things to complain about right now the men’s bb team is not one of them. Barnes will consistently have them competitive with a chance to make a run. I can accept the results when you have players like Williams, Schofield, Bone, Alexander, Pons, Fulkerson, James, Springer & Johnson representing the university.

Fulmer was fired for what he did in 05 and 08. In 05 he showed that the game was passing him by. He brought Coach Cut in and the team played well in 06 & 07. Then Cut left and it was apparent the game had passed Fulmer and the 06 & 07 success was due to Coach Cut.

Barnes is the best coach we've had here in the last 20 years regardless of sport. hes a class act. We should be proud to have him. Great testimony.
Absolutely right. Tennessee has been a snake bitten athletic department over the last 13 years. Anything that could possibly go wrong has... except for lucking into Rick Barnes. Since 2007, Tennessee has now hired 5 head football coaches, 3 men's basketball coaches, 2 women's basketball coaches and 3 baseball coaches. The only time I believe that we made a hire where we could not have done any better was Barnes in 2015.
