Not sure how you go from Washington to Baker. Not buying it, hope I’m right.

It felt like only yesterday we moved from House to "never called plays before!" Washington and now it's like we'll die if we lose out on him haha. This place is wild. Best football there is.

We’ve checked with a couple sources close to Baker, and the initial word we’ve heard is that he has indicated there’s nothing to the report — at least not right now.

We’re still looking into it to see if anything changes, but that’s at least the preliminary word from sources close to the situation.

I hope JH works out, but if we're gonna talk about what WE wanted from a head coach, I wanted a proven leader who would bring in coordinators that knew what they were doing. We kept talking about a "CEO Type". Hopefully JH becomes that, but I don't think that's what he has been known as thus far in his short career.

If he calls plays and we average 42 points a game then he can be the “thumb sucking” type for all I care...

In all fairness Washington was a google name for most as well.

Never been a DC before but volnation convinced themselves that he’s a home run hire so now if we can’t get him, the next guys a “don’t want “

I’m not saying that at all. And didn’t say that. Time will tell as Elliott will be a head coach somewhere soon. But I know Elliott would have brought an all star staff. I like our hires for offense, but everyone knew we had to nail the DC hire and defensive assistants. If it’s Baker and Willie comes along, well that isn’t a good start.

OK. I guess I was confused by you saying if they had not messed around with Franklin they could have had Elliott. That may be true, but it appeared they had Heupel in their pocket while doing all that. I guess I am resigned to the reality of wannabe coaches as our future and hoping to hit with some for a change. We are just not that attractive as a program currently.

Agree but I'd go G5. Could easily go after Cincy or similar DC. Great minds are everywhere, but don't go after a failed guy with a mediocre record for goodness sake.

We're going to end up overpaying someone. They've seen how desperate we are in our pursuit of Washington. Whoever we hire will use it to get a bigger payday than they actually deserve.

Reluctantly agree. Heupel needs a good DC, and Baker ain’t it.

It really sucks that JH has so much going against him. Hope he can tread water for a bit, we get a quicker and lighter than expected NCAA punishment, and maybe he can hire better staff in the future.
