So they went big for Franklin and Washington - giving them days to work out better deals/situations from their current employers. This group's version of going Full Gundy.
Go hire a guy that is 100% committed to the opportunity at UT.
I dont believe that for a second. Only a fool would turn down a job he wanted because he wasn't the first choice. He would have gotten talked out of it either way because he didn't want to be here.If we had gone all in for Elliott from the beginning, he would be our coach right now. He was already starting to assemble a staff and put out feelers. We waited and tried for Franklin first. Then many around Elliott convinced him to stay and wait. If we had made him an offer first and gone all in he would be our coach today.

I’m not saying that at all. And didn’t say that. Time will tell as Elliott will be a head coach somewhere soon. But I know Elliott would have brought an all star staff. I like our hires for offense, but everyone knew we had to nail the DC hire and defensive assistants. If it’s Baker and Willie comes along, well that isn’t a good start.I take it you think Elliott would be a better hire than Heupel? Not sure I agree with that. One has been a successful B12 and SEC OC as well as a quality G5 HC for 3 seasons. The other has been a successful ACC OC. One jumped at the opportunity, the other was talked out of jumping at the opportunity and given more money where he is. That doesn't square for me.
