First, by many accounts, he's a real piece of work. Kind of a cross between Saban and Dooley in terms of personality. Second, if he couldn't take a program with the instate recruiting base and resources of a Texas to a a higher level and compete with the likes of OU, I don't see him being terribly successful here at Tennessee. If we can't take a chance on guys like Freeze or Kiffin, I'm ready for a young, up and comer type who's innovative offensively and is a proven winner at his previous stops. At least with the younger guys, we have the hope of a higher ceiling. With guys like Herman and Malzahn, we know what that ceiling is and I'm not sure it's high enough to make them a long term answer given the expectations of this fan base.
That's because there's a zero % chance they hire him, b/c of why we just fired our coach.Within 3 years. Scroll down to "Tennessee fires Jeremy Pruitt for cause" podcast.
Snippet from 6:00 on podcast:
“I would risk a million of my dollars. I would go on the table right now and I would put a million dollars on the table for the University of Tennessee. If Hugh Freeze is hired and he doesn’t win 10 games within three years, I would donate a million dollars to the University of Tennessee’s scholarship foundation. A hundred percent. I would, I would put that money on the table. That’s how confident I am.”
I'd still donate for a winning seasonNo. One has nothing to do with other.
He's saying IF.
WHICH means IF he's hired.
So there's no "put me down for a million too while you're at it Clay ". It's contingent off him being hired.
He's talking about confidence in Freeze's coaching ability in that he would NOT lose his one million.
Pruitt won 10 games within 3 years too. Just not in one season.Within 3 years. Scroll down to "Tennessee fires Jeremy Pruitt for cause" podcast.

Clay Travis needs to get over himself. He's not that funny anymore.
Outkick apparently pays very well
Taking a no-name school and bringing it to the point of competing in the Big 12 Championship is extremely impressive. This is the kind of coach we need at Tennessee: a coach who can turn around a program in the gutter.
If you want a coach at UT than can turn a program around that was in the gutter quickly, Napier is the guy! He took a team outside of the Power 5 and beat the team Campbell has been coaching for much a few more years than Napier has coached his team. I think Campbell is a very good coach. But, I don't think he is ELITE. MANY GOOD COACHES that have turned around other teams have gotten ate alive when they came to the SEC!!! Napier may not be the guy either. As stated, Napier beat Campbell's team. I would hire Napier before Campbell.
He started Outkick and quickly realized the easiest way to make money was by being a sports-centric version of Tucker Carlson. He's firmly in the "any PR is good PR" camp. Even though he's always been arrogant, I liked him when he was part of the daily radio show here in Nashville but he's went more and more polarizing since.
