AP has a good point

The coach before Steele went 4-18

The coach after steele went 18-42

And Briles went 8-16 his first two years

obviously Briles turned it around but it was an awful job at that time just like AP said
His quote was the job wasn’t winnable. A good coach made it winnable. A bad coach lost a lot there. That’s all that should be said about it.

I don’t know if it has been mentioned, but I am pretty sure Kiffin got an extension in December of some kind. If he is saying he is interested I would imagine Ole Miss isn’t giving him anything else beyond what they already have. If Kiffin is interested in listening, he isn’t playing games. If the offer is right he will come, jmo

Russ was just telling a story about Lane Kiffin being in front of the NCAA for when he was at TN.

He said Lane showed up late, and as the first speaker steps up Lane steps up to the mic, and asks if he can get breakfast because he hadn't eaten yet that morning. It took him like 10 minutes, then he sits down and goes, ok im ready now. LMAO give me that energy

That’s confidence. Sign me up

So Kiffin would legitimately listen and we won’t even call him? We deserve to suck if we don’t offer him whatever he wants.
And its sooooo Tennessee to not even entertain the idea of talking to a guy that legitimately get us back to competing in the east.

Talk to him, see of hed be interested in keeping Steele, maybe bringing in Garner, and some other really good hires, maybe bring his OC with him....but nope....we Tennessee, no thanks.

Good coaches win games. How many of those ****** coaches before and after Steele went on to win big somewhere else?

It’s so obvious we could hire Lane, Freeze or Herman yet here we are hyping up known loser Kevin Steele.

It is impressive if you think about it. Auburn paid Gus 20 million to try and make Steele their head coach. We self reported violations to try and save 12 million from Pruitt so that we can try to make Steele our coach.

Kiffin and Haslams have a working relationship?

that old feeling is coming back

The coach before Steele only lasted two seasons. Before that Grant Teaff won 172 games there. It wasn't an unwinnable situation.

I wonder if there is a plan because I wonder why make a coach that has been here a week interim instead of Ansley or Chaney - someone the players know. You would think they could relate to the players better. Also, there was a blurb about Steele being okay with one of the coaches they had vetted.
Could be wrong but it feels like there's a plan. Steele bridges the gap if there is a plan. Ansley or Chaney probably won't be here with a new coach and if you want to get kids to buy into the University and not their fired coach then a vfl is the way to do it.

I think they have a pretty bad relationship. OSU fans are convinced it's Herman who led to the Zach Smith stuff causing Urban to be fired.
It was Zach Smith getting busted for violating his ex’s restraining order that set that rigmarole off. Herman didn’t have a role in Urban lying at the Big 10 media meetings concerning his assistant.
