Herman would say yes IMO. It's up to the next AD to decide if they want him or roll with Steele as an Interim.

Idk how you fire Pruitt and then hire Steele as HC, even if its interim. Especially if Herman or even Chadwell wants to come.

Chadwell is a hot name. Doesn't guarantee success. Butch Jones also interviewed with Colorado and Kentucky. In the last two searches, Gundy allegedly wanted it but wouldn't take it.

I will be surprised if Tennessee goes the Freeze route.

Barnes runs a clean one so not a worry. Baseball maybe though as the two were close in some recruitments. Barnes bows out when receruitments get shady

The next hire is soooooooo important. If we cannot get who we want I’m completely ok with Steele as interim for one year. Another Pruitt or Dooley hire and we’ll never recover. If we’ve been vetting coaches for a while there’s zero reason we should screw this up badly. But we’re Tennessee so

I don't think that's how it will go. Honestly, the press conference today gave me the impression that the administrators were competent and had a plan. You can't recruit or really hire great coaches with an interim tag. If it's Steel, he'll be hired as head coach, but I don't think it will be Steel in the end.
