I mentioned last coaching search we should have hired Mike Leach and a solid DC. We need an offensive innovator that can take mid level talent and elevate it. I like OBrien particularly because the situation he was in at Penn State is similar to what we are going to encounter although not as bad. Hire him leave Steele as your DC and lay foundation for 2-3 years (at the max if we face any kind of punishment we could face—if that...we might get away with nothing since we cleaned house) and try to ride back to relevance.

My main issue with Kiffin is... I need to know that dude is a smarter recruiter now. Not a better recruiter. A smarter recruiter.

I think the mess he left behind here and his failure at USC really stemmed from going after players with talent and completely disregarding the culture he was building.

He's older now and hopefully he learned from that. But he hasn't stuck around anywhere long enough to prove it yet.

Exactly. Its part of the divorce proceedings. My guess is (based on Plowman's tone) they will drag it out until the NCAA rules. At least I would do that.

Yes, if AV is correct on FU money coming to the table, it is hard to predict who that would be for.
I would think:
1. Herman doesn't require FU money as he has his $15 million from Texas
2. Freeze doesn't require FU money, just wants the opportunity. But I can't see us going after him if we are going to get sanctions.
3. Kiffin would ask for FU money for his assistants, but likely not for himself.
4. Chadwell & Napier can't command FU money when they haven't demonstrated themselves at P5 schools.
5. Only one to throw FU money at is Campbell, but with no ties to the south or UT, I can't see him coming into this mess. Then you start thinking, make him say no and throw $8-10 million at him, is he worth that risk?
6. Anybody else that can command FU money?
