Henry T staying...

6-6 probably gets him 2022. 7-5 absolutely would.
Probably true.

If this stay on its current course hes getting a 4th year after 3-7 and an pretty substantial investigation.

I'm not sure why him coming back after 6 or 7 wins would shock anybody

4 Wins should do it with all 6 of the 8 the losses within a TD of a win this will keep attendance up and money rolling in the establishments bottom line
2 other loses 25+ Bama & UGA annual blowouts.
That gets him another year, no extensions please.
Yes we have sank to these standards.
It’s not quite that bad but might as well be.

From a roster perspective, things look promising. If you can fire Pruitt with a reduced buyout and put Steele / Ansley in place to run your defense with billy Napier or Hugh Freeze as the head man and leading the offense, Tennessee wins 10 games next year.
must be nice not to live in reality

do you really think the roster is bad?

It's certainly not 3-7 bad. Good coaching and development would've probably had us at 6-4 or 5-5 at worst. No excuse whatsoever for losing to that KY team at home or that Arkansas team. I also believe we wouldve had a punchers chance against Auburn with the right coaching.

A lot of you are going to be disappointed when Pruitt fails miserably next year.

I don’t see a path to 7 wins.

completely agree. Next year is extremely promising with a competent coach in place. We have 3 quarterbacks on the roster that are draft worthy. Hooker has looked as good as Dobbs for tech. The experts think that Salter could be similar to Watson. I think Bailey has looked really good with minimal development. Next year could easily be a 9-10 win season like 2019 should have been. With Pruitt, it’ll be a 5-7 to 6-7 year.

Can we not root for the man to be successful? Without all of the Bullsh*t negativity? We won’t be Alabama all of a sudden with a new Coach. The coaching searches every few years suck. Sit back, Suck it up and let the man work. Damn...
Agreed. Don't know the whole story from last year other than the JG issue..... and prob nobody really does unless you're a player or on the coaching staff. Is Pruitt the answer? Don't know. Bad losses last year but with the addition of Steele and some transfers....and Henry T coming back... I have to believe we will have a winning season. I'll prob get trashed for this comment since 95% of the people on here want Pruitt to take a long walk off a short pier.... but for my own sanity, I have to remain somewhat positive. But to your point, let him do his job and try to come back from a crappy year. If next year is a sh*t show like this year...... fire him.

I dont see a path to 10 wins next season as I do believe our 3 big rivals are just better than us both from a coaching and personnel standpoint and I don't see us winning any of those games. I also think Kiffin and Ole Miss will boat race us. However I do think 8-4 is a real possibility and that would be a damn good first season for a new coach stepping in. I would take that all day.

Ya, because everyone here is fans of the coach and not the university.
The criticism is that the university doesn’t have a standard. I don’t think there are many if any that think CJP is a championship level coach.

No but I think the chances of firing Pruitt, hiring Freeze or Napier, keeping Ansley and Steele to coach is wholly unrealistic

Well I completely agree with that lol. I mean we’re talking about Tennessee here. If they would have fired Butch in 2016 or Dooley in 2011 were likely not having this conversation. They keep coaches around too long.

A lot of people on this message board would have been calling for Johnny Majors to be fired in September 1981 after losing 44-0 and 43-7 to Georgia and USC to start the 1981 season.;)

Majors was a Tennessee son, a decorated player here, and an already established national championship winning coach when we hired him. Pruitt is a gump who had never been a head coach in his life and taught elementary school kids how to tie shoes. The two situations couldn't possibly be more different.

You’re in denial if you think our university won’t do everything in their power not to make a change

If JP comes back, I’m confident attendance will be way down even if Covid is “over” & I doubt they’ll have a winning season. Admin will be faced with no choice.

Sigh
Covid19 won’t be over. And 3-7 says otherwise.
I don’t disagree with what you think should happen, but after 20 years of this garbage I’m convinced that no changes will be made that will improve football. We will eventually replace CJP and it will be with a google coach. The example I’ve used repeatedly is Mike Houston. Go google him and tell me you think we will hire anyone better than that.

What position is Steele coaching? It’s possible that he he is a piece capable of filling multiple roles. We haven’t hired anyone else, nor extended Tee or Neids contracts. There is also “no way” we would bring back this head coach with 6-7 new assistants. Graham, osovet, and Ansley have all been linked to other openings. And they doesn’t include Weinke, who’s done a crummy job.

As for fulmer, he’s on the clock.
Steele will
Coach linebackers if Garner comes on board. Steele will be DC if Ansley leaves. IMO.

What's the presumptive 4th year record that gets a 16-19 coach a 5th year?

No sarcasm here, but Pruitt has to have his best year record wise including bowl game (13 game schedule). That would be 9 wins minimum. I think 8 if he beats one of our big 3 gets hims year 5. 8 wins with no wins vs big 3 and bowl loss sends him away.
