Windy's football discussion thread.

Ok.
I try to use humor to defuse problems in life. Today was a tough day with my Dad. He was pretty lucid and actually having a good day. He told me that he needed to see one more Tennessee winning season. He’s aware that he’s going through this. So now I find myself hoping that CJP can pull his head from his ass because I really need him too. So now I’m looking for any possible reason to believe in CJP. Call me Mr. positive.
I apologize to you fine people in advance. You deserve better than this but you’re just not gonna get what you deserve.

Go Vols!!
Well, we seem to be doing some coaching upgrades, and IF Pruitt can butt out and let them do what they were hired to do, then maybe??

Best I’ve got. It’s kinda exhausting being by nature an optimist at the moment. That cognitive dissonance thingy.

Maybe Fulmer needs to butt out too.

Could be.

I don’t know that he’s the villain the FF likes to make him out to be, but geeze, if you hire people for 6- and 7-digit salaries, then get out of their way!

I got cheesed being micromanaged as a GS-9. I can’t imagine putting up with that when pulling down a third or half million or more.

Ftr, haven't forgotten about this situation, and still praying for him.

He's going to be the best coach in UT history!

Well, since all of you are in, I'm in. I'm gonna go to the ff and tell everyone Pruitt will end up being the greatest coach in UT history!😂
Oh lawd... you have done did it now. You’re gonna be bringing all those FF nutballs here!
You're gonna be embarrassed. I just read from a couple different posters on here, with real connections, not only eill Pruitt not be fired, but he'll end up as one of the greatest coaches in UT history. Go ahead and put your name on the check, cause that ibfo is money. Came straight from the only believable football thread around.

So, a question: I’m pretty sure that the answer is “no”, but is there any way to evaluate Pruitt’s record here separately from JG’s performance?

I still think that there is something weird about Pruitt’s continuing play of JG. I don’t care how he talks (although I sure didn’t allow my kids to talk like that); I don’t think he’s stupid.

But if the Lizard People had captured JG at some point back in 2018, and we had a not-great-but-not-terrible QB as a replacement, what might the last three years have looked like? How many of his wth-were-you-thinking decisions were 90% independent of recovering from a turnover, trying to give the D a rest, hunkering down, playing it safe, or whatever?

Obviously, this is not measurable (although possibly entertaining), but I am still stuck on the scenario that Pruitt Had to Play JG for Some Nefarious Reason. Because I am cheerfully dirt-ignorant about football, but I sure wouldn’t have kept playing him.

Enquiring minds want to know!

I’m in the football ignorant category. So if I can use that card, I wouldn’t have kept playing JG, especially after Arkansas. Yes, I know, the Kentucky game was awful, but the Arkansas game was the death knell on this season for me. The team as a whole wasn’t there mentally or fight.

Was he ok/great/abysmal/meh in game day coaching decisions that were separate from JG?

Although I think that maybe awful QB play impacts everything else, so maybe they just can’t be separated out.

That is absolutely the best reason to hope for a successful season in 2021. GO VOLS!!!

A female friend of mine that grew up in the accursed region where the Tombigbee flows told me today that she was starting physical therapy on her neck. I told her they would never be able to rub the red out.

Always the lady, she must have thought that was the time to show me the perfect manicure of her two middle fingers.

I don’t know, I wasn’t on the sidelines to judge, but there’s plenty on VN to give their beer swilling, arm chair thumping opinions. What I think, CJP found himself over his head at the beginning of this year (2020, not football season). Sorta like he couldn’t concentrate on one thing, when you’ve got multiple things that need your attention, and it all goes by the way side. They won 8 games in a row last year, let’s just go on that, it’ll work, right?
