It's just how it works. You do an in-house investigation, then bring in outside counsel to validate, clear up inconsistencies and see if there's anything else out there. That way, outside counsel can defend allegations with confidence and credibility. And if a client is questioning whether they can, or should, terminate for cause, outside counsel digs deeper and makes a recommendation.
Plus it validates what was told to outside counsel the first time. Bottom line, outside counsel wants to insure their information and findings are rock solid.

Just to add to this, generally the alleged perpetrator is the last person interviewed because you gather all of the information (including an initial interview with perpetrator early on to gather facts) before you sit down for the last time. That last interview gives the perpetrator the opportunity to answer questions and respond to any inconsistencies between their earlier interview and what the investigators have found since that point. Yet again, investigators are looking for lying more than anything else.

Just remember, if an attorney is asking you a question, they already know the answer. It's always a test. Don't lie.

Their argument literally boils down to "he's an adult" what the hell does that mean is that Boomer for sucks? We need a dude who has actively won games in the SEC and found success recruiting in this league. If we had any balls in our athletic department we would cut Pruitt loose & bring Freeze in the next day and tell the SEC to choke on it.
I love freeze but there’s a lot of risk there, much much more than you are acting like. The majority of the fondness for him is because he won two meaningless games against Alabama. It’s still very impressive but there’s more to it.

You also don’t need to have recruited well in the sec before being hired in order to infect recruit well. It’s been proven time and time again.

I could also make the argument that winning nfl playoff games (or really any games) with Blake bortles or Gardner minshew is more impressive than anything any other realistic candidate has done.

I think its a guy Fulmer has control over. Someone he's comfortable with. Maybe with a dynamic offensive coordinator, you could sell me on him if he plays the CEO role.

Marrone is at or near the top of my wishlist if Fulmer is AD going forward. I’ve got a different wishlist, with anyone else at AD.

Why Garner? For years everyone has thought he's the most corrupt recruiter in the SEC.

We're under investigation for recruiting violations right now
I am not aware of any significant violations sticking to Garner, though. At any rate, he’s really the least important part of that equation.

I think about 80% of you are going to be unhappy, unless it is either Freeze or Kiffin and neither one of those is happening. It's all right. You all will be back on the Atlanta or bust bus with the rest of us in August.

No, because there’s a significant drop off from those guys and everyone else.

If it’s Marrone you’ll see where we go and it won’t be up.

I can't take it seriously if you are going to say that Marrone is "probably just as good as Chadwell or Napier." It's not even close. Herman won at a G5 school and had one good year with a Sugar Bowl at Texas where he still lost 4 games. I just can't believe people just look at numbers and nothing else.
I actually didn't say that. I said Marrone probably has as good of a resume for this job as Chadwell or Napier.

Marrone has an ugly NFL record (I know his backers instantly write that off) and was OK at Syracuse, by their standards (he had 2 good years out of 4 and won 40% of their Big East games overall). Chadwell has been good at basically every college job he's coached (except for a one-year stint at Delta State), but he's never coached above the G5 level. Napier, in limited time as a G5 coach, has been successful.

I don't see huge differences between the qualities of those resumes, for this particular job. If you want to talk about resume quality on an absolute basis, not relative to any particular position, then yes, Marrone's is the best purely because he's been in the NFL.

If there is nothing there let’s say why on earth would Pruitt want to be here?

I don’t think any of us would want to be

Oh, there's stuff there. There's stuff at every major program. It's swept under the rug and kept in-house... until it's not.

As to why he would want to put up with all this, who knows? Maybe he thinks it's a challenge and he's up to it, maybe he's good at blocking out noise or maybe he's been told to keep quiet and do his job while we work through this. Lawyers and agents are infinitely more patient than clients and fans.

Justin Pugh and Chandler Jones were 2*s, but do they get retroactively bumped to 5*s because they were 1st rd picks? Ryan Nassib? He had 13 guys picked that he coached or recruited in his brief time there.

This. I’m not saying we need to live in 2 star territory at all, but we need a guy that identify and develop talent in order to get this thing off the ground. You try to go toe to toe with UGA and Bama without some wins or draft picks to your credit, and you are just gonna end up bridesmaid more often than not (see Pruitt’s recruiting).

The only thing 100% certain is that people aren't going to agree on whatever UT decides. There will be jubilation and disgust, no matter what.
RIght! I was thinking yesterday that if the UTAD, boosters and Admin are all involved in this decision, it probably sounds a little like this message board. I still say there's only one or two home run hires out there, every other option has some risk to it - even whether to keep or fire Pruitt. Given Fulmer's track record of hiring assistants and now Pruitt, I hope others ARE involved (and I say that as a person who like Fulmer).

Would you work this hard for a boss who’s sharpening a knife to stick in your back?

Something seems to be amiss here
