Ok that’s makes me feel better and actually makes sense.its administration hire. Like LA said Auburn has to front most of the salary. Even if he doesn't go on field with next coach he is asset to have in the building in whatever role you put him at. I'm sure their isn't any kind of buyouts or contract stipulations for either side. Just a good ole boy helping out his university while its in a bad spot. It has zero to do with CJP staying or going.
LA Vol said that they are bringing Steele in because Pruitt has wanted an extra defensive coach for a long time.its administration hire. Like LA said Auburn has to front most of the salary. He is wrong..and you are too this time...down is a direction I don't accept. None of these boring rejects are going to stabilize or fix this mess. I have said it before and now will say it again...I'd rather keep on giving chances to and rolling the dice on good mid tier coaches that have built winners till we get lucky as to hire one of those freaking fired boring lifeless reject losers.he's not wrong. it's not ideal. it is nothing to get excited about. but it's not wrong either.
it's just situational awareness.
we're not gonna get any big names. we won't even attempt with kiffin or freeze and Napier isn't coming here.
this search, still assuming there is one which it seems likely at this point, starts with guys like marrone and malzahn...throw fisher or steele in there too if you want.
if we hire chadwell, i'm gonna say we "wind up" with him...i can't see that being the top of the list.
this program needs stability and calm and leadership.....the last 8 years have been a debacle in those things big time. so if nothing else guys marrone, malzahn or whoever you want to name from that ilk, at least gives you some confidence that there IS a direction (whether you agree with that direction or not, at least there IS one....), and they've at least been in charge of programs at high levels and won't shrink when something bad happens....cause, it probably will.
and the reality is, it doesn't matter what we do....there will be no fan consensus.....so they're going to have to manage that too.
bottom line, it's not gonna be a quick fix, and there's still several TBD's out there regarding what this roster ultimately looks like for the next year or two, so i don't see how anyone can put any expectations on what should happen by year 2 or 3 at this point.
anyway. we may just be, again, in the wonderful world of "you don't have a choice".
Many players thought the one time transfer rule was a forgone conclusion. Now that the NCAA has shelved it, again, do some of these players pull their names from the portal?
Weak mindset. When Tennessee is at full strength as a program, they can compete with anyone in this league.Forget winning the league...we aren't even going to be decent (8-9 wins) again until 2 out of 3 of Florida, Georgia, and Alabama throttle back as programs.
It isn't a coincidence that our last really successful period occurred when Georgia and Alabama oscillated between mediocre and garbage. This time, in order for us to just get off the floor, we're going to need help from our rivals.
At this point, I see the only way for it to happen is for our rivals to swing and miss on a coaching hire. E.g., Alabama swings and misses when Saban retires. Mullen leaves for the NFL and Florida swings and misses.
Knee jerk reactions have consequences. We know that all too well. Some of them won't be given the chance. Players have to meet with compliance before they're officially entered into the portal and they're informed of the risk they assume. A lot of guys are going to find themselves without a spot or forced to go somewhere they really don't want.
If Alabama, Georgia, and Florida are all top 10 programs (both in terms of on-field performance and recruiting), how can Tennessee compete against that? All of those schools have inherent advantages, particularly recruiting advantages, that Tennessee does not.Weak mindset. When Tennessee is at full strength as a program, they can compete with anyone in this league.
I dont hate the move. It also gives Ainsley someone who can teach him how to run that side of the ball. Freeing up Pruitt, hopefully he can get his head out of his ass on the offensive side of the ball. Any idea on who might come in for linebackers?Pretty sure it's going to be off, at least initially. Ansley's still here and obviously, staffing is up in the air.
