The Big Tech March to Silence Free Speech

Dude, when people go on strike, they sacrifice something. That has always been the case. WTF are you talking about?

And really, with JIT inventories and the supply chains this country has, I think all it would take is for 3 days and the store shelves would be empty. Imagine if it went on for 2 weeks?

I think GM went on strike last year for close to 2 months.
Believe it when I see it.

I am just telling you what my experience was. I did none of this and have an open and working account.
Gotcha-I’m assuming this is something to the equivalent of having a blue checkmark on Twitter, or gives you some sort of special privilege.

This hasn't seemed to garner much interest but it really disturbs me. Google, Apple and Amazon has seemingly conspired together to remove a competitor from existing as a platform and be an alternative to twitter. First Google removed the app Parler from their download store, then Apple and finally Amazon finished them off by refusing to host their platform.
These big techs seem to have a blatant disregard for free speech anymore and they have unleashed the Kraken on conservatives.

To state the obvious, while freedom of speech is a fundamental right, it is not absolute, and therefore subject to restrictions.

Don't believe me? Go into your nearest movie theater, yell "FIRE!" and wait for LEOs to come arrest you. Wanna go hard core, write or speak a threat to the President or other elected officials. Then, enjoy your conversation with the Secret Service.

2nd grade stuff here.

A good perspective.

Free speech is meant to guarantee one subject is not restricted, however; political speech. If any free speech must remain above limitation, it is speech about one's government.

It's a weird thing because FB, YouTube, and Twitter have given common people a voice that they never had before. On the net, they have done more for free speech than just about anybody/any entity. Yeah, they are cracking down on some viewpoints but we all have more capability to be heard more than ever before. Even somebody who is kicked off all major social media still has more of a voice than the average Joe did 25 years ago.

Maybe I’m missing something, but the report that the Washington Post links to which is the basis for many of these bans and for Parler to be purged from the internet, looks like some dudes blog from his moms basement. Includes only screenshots from anonymous Reddit users. Then politicians just say “Washington Post is reporting that....” like it’s authoritative. This is the agitprop machine.

Yes, the free market made them what they are today.

I can go to a movie theater and yell fire until my head explodes. I just can't do it in an occupied theater.

The only limits to free speech is speech that harms or threatens.

Conservatives: "free speech isn't enough. I should be able to force others to to spend their own money to help me reach a bigger audience."

Host this ******** on your expensive servers or I'll come after you with the law!

Forget it Hog. These lefties think saying anything they disagree with is yelling "fire" in a theater. You can't have a meeting of the minds with them ( you're a mind short here...not yours).

No, that is not the viewpoint of conservatives. Some Republicans maybe but being a republican does not make one a conservative.

I fully support the tech companies right to ban, refuse service, edit whatever and whomever they choose for whatever reason. I would like the same courtesies.

Yes and no IMO. Yes under nearly every circumstance except overthrowing said government via violence.

Remember how many times Trump complained that his stuff didn't go viral enough?
