I mean, how do you let it get this far?

You saw the university sent copies of the contract for the lawyers doing the investigation? Has to be to set the stage for firing Pruitt?

Oh my!! Nope! If so, it’s much worse than I thought.. 🤔😩

Well they need hurry the heck up. This gets worse everyday.
Exactly! If this is the case and they came to the realization that Pruitt wasn’t the guy, you do what every other respected program, who is serious about competing, does and you pay the guy his buyout, that BOTH parties agreed to and you start looking for the next guy.
GBO!!

Again. We’re talking about a situation that could come down to an arbitrator or jury letting the UT AD walk away from 12 LARGE. If the very expensive counsel tells you to make no public comment, you make no public comment. Or I could be completely dreaming and they’re all just locked in a room and and arguing and we’re doomed.

I think you are on to something. Pruitt and co have lawyered up most likely. I still think there is something beyond the athletic dept though.

It would be worthwhile to ask this young man for the truth about why he is leaving. It would tell us everything we need to know about this program behind the blackout (I know he will tell his story months or years from now). Then we might know better whether to bring torches or pitchforks, and whether Fulmer can fix this, or if he should be the first casualty.
It is time to announce if Pruitt is here in 2021 or not. Nothing else matters for step one of fixing this.

So instead of firing him for a 3 win season and paying him his buyout, you come up with an internal investigation for things that were probably well known to be happening so you can “fire him with cause” and now he gets a lawyer and it probably costs you double or even triple what he was owed and going forward, no other coach in their right mind will sign on to work for such an athletics department.
Well played UTAD, well you played.
GBO!!

The contract also CLEARLY states what constitutes being fired with cause. A contract has two sides. Our AD has a fiduciary responsibility to make sure he lived up to his end. If he didn’t.....then he gets McElwain- ed.

C’mon bud! I’m not trying to start anything and be disrespectful, because I do respect your opinion but you can’t be that naive. If we’re being honest, probably 90% of college football coaches could be “fired with cause”, if the university really wanted to take it that far.
GBO!!

And I don’t even know what fiduciary means!!🤪🤪

It would be better to just pay him than bleed talent and keep getting dragged in the media like this. This should have been kept quite until they were ready.

You understand that these are the same players that went 3-7 this year right. If we lose them to get rid of their in over his head coach, then that’s the price of doing business.

You’re not being disrespectful in the least. I absolutely see your point. Normally I would probably agree with you. But getting rid of Pruitt isn’t normal circumstances. Of course I agree with you that most coaches cheat and technically be fired with cause. Including Saban and Dabo. But other coaches protect themselves by being of value to the University so they’re protected when these things happen. Pruitt is the opposite of value. He’s a liability. And so off with his head.
