I really do see his frustrations and the hard place he is in. I just think he needs to lay low until this whole thing wraps up. It looks even worse to back Pruitt (which i have no problem with) but then to continue to hedge that every time he speaks is the issue.

He's also apparently very well-liked in the NFL coaching/GM community. I know he was standing there in the doorway during that clip, but he supposedly is very hands-off, lets his coaches coach, and isn't stingy with writing checks.

I think we were in a rut and tired of the workin like heck stuff and it felt like Cut would be a Fulmer retread. I think we thought Cut had a lower ceiling than we were willing to accept. I think the 45-5 spoiled us all and we just didn’t think it was all that difficult to get back to. It almost feels like we didn’t want to put in the work as fans and live with a coach that would get us 8-9 wins a year. Instead we’ve turned into this cesspool.

I think a decent, certainly not perfect analogy would be that we’ve gone from being the Steelers to the Browns. We had 2 head coaches in 30 years and now we’re going to be on our 4th in 12. Stability is something we need . We’re the only school that can simultaneously overvalue and undervalue ourselves. Get a solid coach and the recruits will take of themselves. Dooley, Butch and Pruitt have all gotten top 10-15 classes here during this past shitshow of a decade. The place recruits itself. JUST WIN !

That is another way to put it. I think Pruitt gives him some info and he feels obligated to continue to support him. Symbiosis, or some such something.

If you look solely at past performance history you're completely missing the point. With your logic we should dig up General Neyland and put him in charge.

Plenty of good coaches dont change, and the game leaves them behind. Fulmer and Miles would be 3 win coaches anywhere now
