I don’t have a disdain for Phillip. He is a friend (off the field) and was a hell of a football coach and did wonderful things for the program and the university in the hey day. But just because of that doesn’t give him a pass to do the things he has since becoming the AD. PERIOD.
Behind closed doors he has done more damage to the football program since he departed than any single person in the history of the program. If you ask any current coach who has been there since he has been AD in a closed room setting you would be astonished to hear the meddling and the toxic environment he has created. Trust me here...as more and more of this staff leave the more and more dirt will come out publicly about him and it will be a real bad look for him and the university for allowing it to happen.
There is a reason why you have a large conglomerate of very high profile boosters who have demanded him ride off into the sunset...guess we will see what happens.
Sometimes I wonder if Cutcliffe was actually better suited for the HC job here than Fulmer was. Fulmer was the more senior guy, so that's obviously how Fulmer got it to begin with, but I've always thought Cut was a better football mind and if you've had a chance to hear him speak, he definitely has better communication skills and more charisma than Fulmer.Chavis' success was as a developer of talent. He also had them ready to bite nails at game time. However, his scheming did not keep up and it showed as his career winded down. I spent some good time talking with Cut before a Vandy game one year in Nashville. He was very gracious in doing so. The pick of the litter by far. Highly intelligent about the game and leading people in general. IMO he would have succeeded at about anything he chose to do in life because he had the discipline to deep dive and communicate well. The game has not passed Cut by even today. He just hasn't fully implemented the current concepts at Duke. He may be about to retire and does not want to commit to it, who knows. You are spot on with Fulmer.
Really good as three together in their prime.
Bro Fulmer is Les Milessomeone that coached for 30+ years, is out of the game?
i recall distinctly Fulmer's name being considered in NFL backintheday. Fulmer may not be Gruden or Belichick, but those dudes are propf that old school can still work.
Look, i'm not exactly in favor of a 100% I formation. But, sprinkled in, with some power or speed option plays, keeps a defense on its toes.
When Fulmer is gone people are def going to look back about how he was under appreciated.
I appreciate your info a lot, but this just sucks to read....I don’t have a disdain for Phillip. Tell the Haslams Volnation is begging for them to save our football program. Get Pruitt and Fulmer fired...hire a great AD and Freeze, and let’s go win a bunch of games!!I don’t have a disdain for Phillip. Not Atl...but I can tell you what are situation is like. It is like a car with four bad tires where you have a blowout, put on the spare, drive ten miles and another blowout..get a tow somewhere only to buy a couple of crappy used tires because you are a cheapass...then have another blowout the next day..and so on..and so on...and so on...until finally one day you finally wise up and get a good new set of tires instead of garbage. What's the current situation like? Are we getting closer to final resolution and are the major players getting closer to being on the same page? IYO, who do you see coming in to get us rolling?
My man. Haha! My mother in law went to one college soccer game and she said she couldn’t believe how physical the game was. She came to a good one where both teams had a couple shoving matches over some hard fouls.Buddy I'd probably run your ass into the ground in a game of soccer. You'd be huffin and puffin and barely able to move, bruised and battered while I'm looking for another game. You're the guy who asks the ref for time five minutes in. Gtfo with that Lmao
Lord help you if you had a match with @Smyrna ATL Vol and I.![]()
