That wasn’t the point. Pruitt must be actively speaking with players in the portal and making decisions to accept them but he is not allowed to with coaching assistants? That’s the inconsistency we are trying to understand.

This issue with hiring assistants is if they are indeed hired but Pruitt is fired after the investigation has been completed those assistants are owed the money they signed with their contract unless the new staff retains them.

I agree with you. He isn’t going anywhere barring some major revelations in which case UT could be in worse shape

Agreed.
Most fans don't want to hear it but these kids commit to coaches as much if not more than the school in a lot of cases.

I'm not a big fan of keeping him from signing coaches but obviously at worse giving the perception to transfers and recruits that he is coming back.

Problem now, ESPN getting everyone's hopes up that UT is finally going to do the right thing and fired the idiot for losing 7 games. The current coaching situation is getting more radioactive by the day. Everyone on here is getting excited about the possibility of a new coach.

Some have graduated maybe they just want to try something different. Others are stuck behind younger guys with more coming in. Homesick after a crazy season and school year with covid. Maybe some think Pruitt is gone, maybe others think hes staying and they don't want to play for him.

That may not cover every situation but I'd guess one doesn't cover them all.

I think that's probably true. But hes been getting fired everyday since early Dec.

But I'm sure not going with the idea that there's no way he doesnt come back..
Hes obviously continuing to recruit and interview so they havent told him.
If it was all based on his performance they could have already made the move.
UT is not gaining anything by waiting at this point.

We have not had many serious defections that could not be replaced immediately except for Bryce Thompson to the NFL. Even he may come back if he doesn’t sign with an agent if I understand that topic correctly?

Not to the level that its the worst kept secret in Knox Co. that the coach is getting fired, no.

That may be correct. My guess, if they tell him he ll get drafted more than likely he goes on.

I am willing to bet that someone at UT is leaking info to ESPN. Otherwise, UT football is not major news on the network.
