Early on in the process before whatever came out came out. He wanted his guy to succeed so bad he was willing to do whatever to make it work.

Imo of course.

That sounds more like what people want to think if Freeze isnt hired than what actually happens.

Has to be Freeze at this point....what other (good) coach is going to want to come here? Campbell and Fickell both no. I'd say Malz and Herm want to sit out a season and just get a check. Not sure if Chadwell or Napier would come (also not sure I fully buy into them honestly). This hire should be should be so easy, but I won't be surprised if/when we screw it up.

Tell me why he’s not please.

You’ve got a man who’s respectable and a new face for the program. Is he going to take anything to new heights no but he can put this **** show back together and get it going on the right path.

If he hit Barnes success nobody would complain

I live here in Birmingham. Watched every painful year he has been associated with the Auburn program. Listened to his interviews. Watched Auburn put a leash around him so he couldn't hire or fire assistants without approval. Literally EVERY Auburn fan I know wanted him gone BEFORE this season. His record except two outlier seasons screams mediocrity. His HS gimmick offense has been figured out by almost literally all defensive coordinator. He ain't hitting Barnes success...

I've met the man. Was nice and cordial enough, but, I can't say this loudly enough...

DO.NOT.WANT.

If this is true, I would believe the candidate is either Gus, Marrone or Napier.

Gus because he has no job and has been available to interview for weeks - and the fact that he hasn't had any interviews published anywhere leads me to believe he's being very quiet.

Marrone because he just became available.

Napier because Steven Godfrey has suggested Napier believed he had the Tennessee job lined up and turned down Auburn because of it.
Given the source, that "IF" takes on a different meaning.

Listening to Basilio, I'm not sure it's as dysfunctional as it appears. He believes that the new admin over there, especially Boyd and Plowman, know what they're doing. he believes we're going to Texas this thing and try to have our guy in place. I think making Friend pay his buyout shows there is some different leadership over there.
I hope this is right.

So he’s not so stubborn that he didn’t want change but the Admins said no. Hmm.

But thank you. That’s respectable

Wish I shared the optimism as some, but this just looks and feels like the biggest cluster****. I have no faith that our leaders there are handling this behind the scenes as smoothly as some are suggesting. We may end up canning Jahrmee, but I have no faith they will hire anyone much better. I dont think the admin is in as calm control of all of this as some think.
