My gut tells me if PF is doing the hiring again, he's already reached out to Marrone.

My gut also tells me PF may not be the one to make that decision.

If I'm being honest (and I am) there are not many names I'd say "no" to at this point. I'm almost at the "anyone but Pruitt" ledge. Now, that being said, there are absolutely different levels of excitement or enthusiasm some names would bring than others, but at least it'd be a change and would provide hope, which is something I don't think many of us have right now, concerning the current coach.

I really wanted him to be the guy ... and if he somehow survives the investigation, I really do hope he hires the greatest staff in America (heard that somewhere before), but I just can't see it.

I know, change for the sake of change reeks of desperation.
Well, aren't we?

Since this whole ordeal is getting really old, I've considered this scenario:

The administration wants to make a change but they probably understand that there's not a big name coach willing to come here short of being paid $8 million a year. If they drag this out long enough, they may think the fan base will just accept whoever they trot out there. I doubt they want another fiasco that was brought on by Currie. Just a thought.

I actually do feel a little bit bad for Pruitt because of what he's had to deal with. But I know a lot was brought on himself
He took on the job of rebuilding the worst team in UT history and was making progress till a once a century pandemic and stubborn loyalty to friends on staff and the most polarizing player in UT history stalled him out.

I don't hate the guy. He just messed up badly at the worst possible time, and could not catch a break.

"We can do worse!"..that is a bull💩 way to justify a bull💩 hire..

This boring loser is the death knell of the program if he is hired. We have to get this right..THIS TIME...not settle for Mr "we could do worse"..

Marrone is a garbage hire..period..

In my opinion.

He’s not at the top of my list, but I’d take him over Chadwell, Tucker, Steele, Pruitt, and maybe even Malzahn. Not a splashy hire, but maybe exactly the hire we need.

Not making a QB change didn't help him any. He could have possibly made his own break but chose not too.

Yes, that's part of what he is saying but also the Admin needs to make a decision one or way or another.
So Pruitt has built such a weak culture that kids will just leave? I was always taught to play for your brothers and the team. That is just sad and adds to what Pope said. Bad culture.

Its almost inpossible to win in the NFL without a QB. Belichick is a sub .500 coach without Brady in his career. He's 23-25 with New England and was 36-44 with Cleveland.

Its really hard to judge Marrone when he never had a QB in Buffalo or Jacksonville. He's pretty much just had EJ Manuel and Blake Bortles.

He did well in his 4 years at Syracuse as well considering they were 3-9, 2-10, 4-8, and 1-11 the 4 years before he got there.

I would still rather see someone like Napier though.

Agreed on the NFL. You just can’t look at NFL the same way as college. Without a big time qb it’s very difficult. He is in the AFC and not coaching the Pats/Steelers and had zero at qb. So not an easy gig

Lots of guys w Little to no success in NFL that go to college and do well
