Recruiting ties to the south is overrated. Urban Meyer didn’t have them when he came to Florida and Saban didn’t have them when he came to LSU. I’d say being the HC of a college team that went from worst in conference to worst in conference in 4 years and a pro team that made it to the AFC Championship with Blake Bortles at QB makes him a good head coach.

Its almost impossible to win in the NFL without a QB. Belichick is a sub .500 coach without Brady in his career. He's 23-25 with New England and was 36-44 with Cleveland.

Its really hard to judge Marrone when he never had a QB in Buffalo or Jacksonville. He's pretty much just had EJ Manuel and Blake Bortles.

He did well in his 4 years at Syracuse as well considering they were 3-9, 2-10, 4-8, and 1-11 the 4 years before he got there.

I would still rather see someone like Napier though.

I said a few days ago that if a move was made, my money was on Napier or Chadwell. I’ll take either of those right now and be happy. Low saying Hugh Freeze would “make sense”, is exciting. I guess we’ll see.

No matter what happens, we are screwed. The boosters and admins have completely boned us.

-Pruitt returns: Sucks as a coach, no good assistants will work for a dead man walking, probably not motivated to recruit ‘22 class; if fired in middle of next season, it ruins ‘22’s valuable in-state class and we should have just done it the end of last year
- Pruitt gets let go due to investigation: we likely get slapped with some sort of restrictions. No good coach wants to walk into that, especially knowing he only has 3 years to rebuild. Transfers ensue. Huge risk for a coach hired, likely end up in the same position we were in now in 3-4 years
-Pruitt fired w/o cause: a lot of previous scenario. No coach wants to work for an admin that won’t allow a five year rebuild (which is what it would take). Risk hire.

Not to mention working for Fulmer who has his head in everything (assuming he is the AD)

Had a winning record twice in four years at Syracuse when they were still the Big East. 25-25 overall & a .388 winning percentage in the NFL.
As an NFL HC he had a winning record twice from 2013 to 2020. Think VN would be cool with another slow rebuild?
From 2013 to 2020 his offenses have ranked in the NFL (out of 32) - 19th, 26th, 18th, 23rd, 6th, 27th, 20th, and 28th.
From 2015 to 2020 his bread & butter, the offensive line, has ranked in the NFL (out of 32) - 19th, 22nd, 15th, 22nd, 26th, and 24th.

I love the vols as well but I see it in the wrong hands and at the end of the day my opinion holds ZERO value in the decision making process but I do come here to express my opinion because it's a board for the team I love. We all want the same things we just have a different idea on how to get there.


Now all that said, Pruitt needs to go

I have been saying he needs to go also. I just don't hate the guy like errybody else does, and I absolutely HATE the slimy backstabbing cheapscate weasel way we have gone about this. It disgusts and embarrasses me.

So 8-5 in the big east is good? And 1 year where he had a good defense in the NFL is the recipe for a good coach? Head coaching record is all im worried about. He sucks.

Hugh freeze won 10 games with a team full of 2 stars. Jamie Chadwell won 10 games with a bunch of 2 stars. Those are good head coaches.

Got in my truck after Lowe was already off the air. Dougherty said Lowe mentioned Mullen could make the jump to NFL this year. Pissed fans got on him for LSU game.

Said Napier makes sense there
