It’ll always cost a lot of money to replace a coach. Boosters either pay it or not.

Besides - a lot of current coaches contracts expire next year that we would have to buy out this year - so maybe a wash?
If we replace 6, like has been discussed, only Chaney, Graham, and Felton will be expiring. If Ansley does leave we will have a new DC on a 3 year deal.
Its going to kill recruiting, bringing him back, especially if we drop a game early like Pitt and everyone knows he will be gone.

Chaney’s salary alone covers 3 other dudes.

Someone should make a list of all the posters swearing they’ll leave if Pruitt stays.

Like I said previously - it’s like the celebrities who swear they’ll move to another country if a political leader they dislike is elected - only to never leave. Neither will these posters.

I honestly wouldn’t consider sark a quality candidate for texas standards or even ours.

..... and i would’ve been ok with sark but that’s only Bc i think Pruitt is so bad.
If you took the orange glasses off, and were AD, who would your top three candidates be to hitch your wagon to?

If they wanted to fire him for performance, it would have been done a month ago. If they had clear cause, they would have set things in motion. Someone could write a check today. Or Boyd could decide to fire him tomorrow simply because he's had enough. Or legal could find damning evidence hidden in a backroom with the beer barrel. Or UT could throw caution to the wind, fire him and pay the buyout. Or UT could continue on the default path, because that has had significant support all along.
The default path is fraught with inactivity that is continuing to doom this program for many years to come. It is really tough being a Tennessee football fan right now. I know you know this, but just venting a little here, I guess.

There were lots of eyebrows raised when it was announced. I could be wrong but didn't they delay the announcement quite a bit from when the new contract was signed and when it was announced? If I am remembering correctly that stinks of worrying about how the contract would be received by the fans and the media.
Think that was Fulmers contract.

I thought it was mentioned not too long ago that he hasn't spoken to Fulmer in quite awhile.
Being here in mid. Tn and a regular listener to the Zone 104.5, I hear a lot of his Wednesday interviews and of course he does two weekend shows in the mornings. His Sunday show is strictly all things UT. He frequently mentions talking to Phil and I know he mentioned just the other day talking to Phil but said he did not bring up the investigation.

i will stand firmly in the camp that says i don't want anything to come of that investigation, especially anything that could legitimately give reason to fire a head coach, with cause.

that's absolutely the worst case scenario.
Yes it is the worst case scenario, and the fact that a huge portion of the guys on here will disagree with you speaks to the dearth of common sense in fans.

Pruitt will be fired next year unless he pulls a miraculous season out of his ass, and the odds of that happening are astronomical in my opinion...but holy crap would I love to see that happen.

In my opinion he will have a season like Mushdump did this year and he will not make it to the Vandy game.

It seems like some specifics about the investigation / possible violations have gotten out, and they’re bad enough that no one will divulge what they’ve heard. I don’t think Pruitt will win here, but if I’m reading the situation correctly, it may be better just to stick with what we’ve got.
I would think, if any violations have gotten out, someone would be feeding them to the media.

Seems like we need to get #FireFulmer trending. Maybe that'll open their eyes a bit. This is the same thing that caused the Pruitt hate. Pruitt stuck with JG when everybody knew he needed to play someone else and the JG hate turned into Pruitt hate simply because he waited too long. He would've been fine if he played the younger guys, because most fans would've understood. Now Fulmer is holding onto Pruitt when everybody thinks it's time to move on and the hate is transferring from Pruitt to Fulmer.

JG got Bitch fired because of bad play. JG starts getting hated on. Pruitt sticks with him and takes over the fan hatred. Then the recent JG, but newly transferred Pruitt hate, is now becoming Fulmer hatred. JG might really get 2 head coaches and an AD fired 🤣.
Lol..JG has become Death...the Destroyer of Worlds.

Again, it isn't just Fulmer. There's strong support for keeping Pruitt and strong opposition. People are dug in. It'll play out how it plays out.

Man, sucks to have people in the administration who love to suck. Count your losses with Pruitt and walk away...

Thanks for bringing all the insight that you do here LA 🙏

Terrified
honestly, i'm not.

i wouldn't say i'm overly confident or anything either. but i'm not really all that worried about it.

i do think he has issues....issues that can get a coach fired.

i also think there were things that happened this year that he, nor PF, handled very well, but i'm interested to see how motivated they might be to "prove err'body wrong".

either way, i think buying a little more time helps us in the long run. they either do, in fact, prove us wrong and we're happy with the results, or we fire him and bring in somebody else....

We can only hope it looks more like Dooley's last staff than the one Butch put together. At least Dooley was able to get Pittman and Graham. I'm afraid Pruitt will end up with coaches more in line with Kevin Beard and Walt Wells.
Hoping (irrational at this point) that between him and PF they might could get Steele.

Just wondering how many happy drunks vs angry drunks we have. Happy drunks are fun to hang with.
I always believed a happy person was a happy drunk and an angry person was an angry drunk. I try to be a happy person

If Pruitt stays you won't see me here until he's gone.

Quote it. Bookmark it. That's a guarantee. I'm done watching until he's gone. Not out of some vain boycott. There are just better things to do than follow the misadventures of incompetent losers.

I'd rather focus on things I can control. Stopped following politics and it has definetly improved my mental state. Zero problem adding sports to that list.

I think Fulmer had all but convinced the admin to stay the course with JCP. Then there were certain boosters, coaches, or board members who did not like that plan and leaked the crap so that we had to investigate to force our hand to fire him. Extremely risky, short-sighted and almost definitely something that is going to hurt us more in the long run. I blame everyone. Fulmer for wanting to keep him. The doofus who leaked it and the remainder of our admin/boosters who are dragging their feet seemingly in hope it will all go away.

I hate to be this negative. Come Spring, I will be onboard again with whomever is our coach. I just think we all deserve better than this, even some of the loudest bitchers on this board, who shall remain nameless, mostly because I am old and can't remember for sure who bitches the most.
