As long as we can get us a coach good enough to get us to a bad boy bowl from then on.Eh couple lossed schollies and a 1 year bowl ban at worst no matter what they find. Won’t matter. We make too much money for the NCAA to really hammer us. Not gonna lose much sleep over missing out on the bad boy mower bowl next year if we have a new coach.
That’s a risk no matter who is hiring a coach. No matter the school or a candidate. We’re the only big program that really sweats out and loses their fn mind.I'm not afraid of the penalties given the NCAAs track record the last few years. I'm afraid of being right back where we are in 3 years looking for another coach because we hired Kevin Steele or Dave Doreen.
My question then would be, what has he done so well? Our recruiting was really no better than in the past, we hadn't beat anyone of significance, and we weren't really gaining on our rivals. I would give him a C for his year which I consider as average.I don’t know if anyone was coming for him. But it’s kinda SOP these days when you have a new coach doing well. All hindsight at this point.
You still think he’s not getting fired?
It just doesn’t make sense to me. If they wanted it done, they could’ve done it weeks ago.
I don’t think the results of the investigation will be serious enough to justify. They could’ve done it off of 3-7 if they wanted to.
All the fuel has just been speculation and fake smoke from fake insiders.
So yeah - unfortunately I think he stays. Might be better to wait another year anyways, if he can’t turn it around. Timing sucks now to make a change after NSD. Better to do it in November so everyone who signs knows the deal. Because we’re not Texas who had a quality candidate in the bag. We’re Tennessee and we’ll flounder and end up with Steele or Mahlzan.
And while the “anyone but Pruitt” might consider those an improvement - think long term. It’d be better to replace Pruitt one year from now than to hire a meh coach and “give him 3-4” years before rebuilding again.
I dont know if waiting another year will change the pool of candidates, especially if we go 4-8 or something like that. Now they are talking up to 6 new assistants on multi year deals so you will be shelling out lots of money still. It just doesn’t make sense to me. If they wanted it done, they could’ve done it weeks ago.

so the info got out, but no body is talking, so it won't get out?It seems like some specifics about the investigation / possible violations have gotten out, and they’re bad enough that no one will divulge what they’ve heard. I don’t think Pruitt will win here, but if I’m reading the situation correctly, it may be better just to stick with what we’ve got.
All I’m saying is that new coaches on a good run usually get an extension, that’s it. Very few people questioned it when Pruitt got the extension. NOW everyone wants to act like they have always been in that boat. Again, it ain’t my money. UT and the boosters can do whatever they want. Always do.My question then would be, what has he done so well? The problem is that our perspective as Tennessee fans is so jaded from the last several years. Our standard are so low that even the most trivial amount of success is lauded as triumphant. If we keep it respectable with Alabama, GA, or Florida, we celebrate that. We as Vol fans need to be much more demanding and change our definition of success.

I honestly wouldn’t consider sark a quality candidate for texas standards or even ours.It just doesn’t make sense to me. If they wanted it done, they could’ve done it weeks ago.

even the ones he gave us, he wound up screwing up. holy ish we beat UGA and FL, we're going to ATL!!!I blame him for the shape he left the program in so I have trouble remembering the moments.

I thought it was mentioned not too long ago that he hasn't spoken to Fulmer in quite awhile.Practically everything Doug says in his weekly interviews and on his Sunday radio show is based on his weekly conversations with Phil They still talk regularly. And before Phil got the AD gig, Phil was Doug's co-host on another weekly radio show.
Yep, death by paralysis. We are in deep doo doo.Brent says no news is coming this week.
They are killing this program. Literally committing suicide. If they're keeping Pruitt, they are hamstringing him by keeping him from being able to hire the best staff he can or to land transfers and recruit. If they're hiring a new coach, they are creating such chaos over here that the candidate pool is going to be very small. On top of that, he also will be late and will have trouble hiring staff and signing transfers and getting started.
We have the worst leadership in the country. It isn't close. These people are worthless.
There were lots of eyebrows raised when it was announced. I could be wrong but didn't they delay the announcement quite a bit from when the new contract was signed and when it was announced? If I am remembering correctly that stinks of worrying about how the contract would be received by the fans and the media. All I’m saying is that new coaches on a good run usually get an extension, that’s it.
