Exactly. Attempting for a "home run" hire results in quite a few stirkeouts, especially at UT. We can't even bunt for a single with the 3rd baseball playing on the outfield grass. Let's hit a double on the gap (which Marrone would be) and then we at least got a runner in scoring position for the following coach.
Marrone would be a Fielders Choice

we still have a head coach.

we'll know one of two ways....either pruitt hires an assistant or two, or he's gonna get fired.

if hes' gonna get fired, i can't for the life of me figure out why he hasn't been yet.

which leads me to believe he isn't.

Wow, Volnation at it's finest! In a matter of 6hrs, all of a sudden we are debating on who Marrone is going to bring in for his staff as the new HC.... Where the heck did this come from!?
Just like everything on here starts. Somebody gets fired and all of a sudden we have a coaching search again. Most people finally came around to the fact that Pruitt is still here and---BAMB---right out of left field we're hiring fired coaches.

Henry could lead the league in rushing yet again next year, especially if the defense improves and the Titans don't have to throw it as much to keep up. Henry has been a known quantity for a long time now and teams still can't stop him.

First repeat 2k rusher? I don't think he -can- but man I'd love to see him surpass Emmitt's career yardage. Sadly Henry's first 2 seasons here he didn't get anywhere near enough carries.

If Mullen stayed at UF and we hired Herman we could have the coach who kisses his players before games vs. the coach whose wife kisses players before games.
Super spreader bowl.....errrrbody in the joint getting covid.

He also didn't have an O-line that allowed him build up the momentum he needs within his first 2-3 steps.

Henry is incredible, but he's more dependent than your average RB at having a path plowed for him. If he gets space to make his first 2-3 steps, he's basically unstoppable.

You have to consider the context, just like everything. The Jaguars had a GM, who also just got fired. So, it's not like an O'Brien situation where Marrone had sole discretion over personnel. Marrone took the Jags to a halftime lead against the Patriots in the AFC Championship game with Blake Bortles as QB. Then, in 2018, they dealt with injuries along with a regressing Bortles. In 2019, the GM traded away all of their Pro-Bowl type players. That's what you get. You will not succeed when your franchise decides to dump your best players and play for the #1 pick.

What?

He averaged 4.5 & 4.2 per carry in those first 2 seasons, even with that lesser OL he still would have went north of 1k with ease if ya get him 225 (14 a game) carries. Instead he had 110 & 176, best thing to happen to Henry was Vrabel coming to town and realizing what he had.

What we really need is someone with ties to the SEC and NCAA leadership. Somebody who can get the people in charge on the phone and have some sway.

Then hire a solid OC/DC and a staff full of recruiters and go win games and compete with Bama.
