Sooo which are you? Boyd, Plowman or Fulmer?
No adjustment at halftime all season long!!! None! Thats all on our coach (who has been allocated the necessary funding for the immediate staff, the support staff, facilities, etc) with all you say he's been given , it makes his coaching look even worse

I think a lot of people either don’t realize, or are forgetting what Pruitt’s perception is amongst many in the coaching community. He’s highly, highly respected from a defensive standpoint. Unlike our previous two head coaches, who were pretty much universally thought to be terrible from a pure X’s and O’s perspective. I’ll add this as well, guys were being developed in his first two years. Yes, everyone had to deal with corona, but not having a spring, summer, or really a fall practice to develop guys is a major factor from a developmental standpoint. No question about that.

I do think it can be better. Fixing our abysmal offense, addressing the culture, developing the QBs, holding position coaches and coordinators accountable and getting Pruitt to be more of a HC should get us out of the gutter. But longer-term, we need a better solution.

Love ya brother and hope you are right. But I do not think this is what will happen. Pruitt just has no clue how to be a head coach at a program like this and Phil isn't going to be able to help him change it because he will not listen. He did not listen to him when he fired a coach mid season. I know Majors fired his DC but I guarantee you this. Majors did interview him and hire him. I hope I am wrong.

Disagree. I think Phillip is doing fine. He’s given Pruitt everything he needs to have success. He’s allocated the necessary funding for the immediate staff, the support staff, facilities, etc. I’d rather have that than some bean counter. I’ve been frustrated with Pruitt on numerous occasions, but at the end of the day, cool heads who can see the big picture will prevail. Which is what we have in Boyd, Plowman and Fulmer.
What do you consider success or failure? I’d love to hear how you would rate this year. Is your assessment based on wins and losses or dollars and cents?

I agree with you..... I think last season was a mess bc of what the staff had to deal with..... I am worried about if he can make good coaching hires, if he will still be able to recruit at a decent level, and if he will be comfortable modernizing the offense?

I don't disagree with this. I think he's pretty good when it comes to football and the X's and O's. But all the other stuff that this job requires he has throroughly bumbled, and that's the stuff that will always undermine the product he puts on the field. He can privately be a great coach. But if he doesn't do the things great coaches do off the field it won't matter and it will never be what we or he envisions.

He's made enough mistakes to be fired. Thats the bottom line. Can he change? Maybe so. But I think we're putting our hopes and wishes in the wrong place if we're counting on that happening.

Hopefully this season. Humbled him a bit

A lot of boosters are tired of bankrolling this mess. If you think fans are sick of it, imagine how people being asked to donate and donate and donate to fund futility feel. It's never-ending.
Maybe we should go hire a proven coach with whatever amount of money it takes, instead of hiring McGoogle every time.

It’s kind of like this for me. I think Pruitt is capable of evolving into a good head coach. Why? His players love him, he’s a good recruiter, he knows what a top program looks like in this league, and he’s one of the best defensive coaches in the game. With that being said, if someone told me we would hire Hugh Freeze if we fired Pruitt, I would fire him immediately. That’s not going to happen, so I’m cool with our leadership sticking behind him.

If he so good at defense then how come he still has not figured out how to stop the slant. Other teams was boat racing his defenses. How did other schools develop their players during the china virus? If you are a good coach then you know what to do. Pruitt, not so much.

He lost all the coaches that were good at developing on defense...Rumph, Sherrer, Rocker and replaced them with recruiters. If the OL candidates are accurate that shows you the type of assistants he is going to pull this time around....guys no one else wants.

Do you think Freeze would be in play at Tennessee next year, if Jeremy doesn’t work out?
I'll give it a shot..

With who we have running the show, most likely not. He damn well should be though and therein lies the problem, Phil...

I just don't understand this excuse. Even if the covid protocols in knoxville more strict, everyone had to deal with it on some level.

I saw absolutely nothing this season which demonstrates this is a competent staff. Misuse of QBs, undisciplined team, no player development, defense got worse, putrid offense. I saw absolutely nothing to hang our hat on showing this staff did much of anything right
