Recruiting against him is the same as recruiting against O, gus, saban, Mullen. Whoever gets the auburn job is going to recruit roughly 7-10th like they always do. Errybody get off cristobals c*ck. Or just be auburn fans if he’s going to make them so great
You should take a Xanax.

Pac 12 is a weak conference. He lost to a bad Auburn team and Az St with an NFL QB. He was a complete failure at FIU going 27-47. He comes from the Saban tree and wants to model his program after Saban, which is not the way to beat Bama. Hes lost his last two games to a rebuild Oregon St and bad Cal team and will probably get beat by USC as well. He walked into a program with talent and beat up on bad teams, he doesn't know how to build anything.
I would take his FIU record with a grain of salt. They didn't join FBS till 2002. They won like 10 total games in the 4 seasons before him. He was the only FIU coach to led them to a bowl till Butch Davis led them to one in 2017.

I must say the Gus situation is giving me Rick Barnes vibes.

We hire a terrible HC in Donnie, he's average and then Barnes is let go despite having results for the program -he- built up and we move Donnie out without having to pay his buyout or anything to hire Barnes.

Now we've hired a terrible HC in Pruitt, he's average and then Gus is let go despite having results for Auburn and now he's sitting there with no buyout or anything to deal with.

He's got a few ex-TN guys on staff that Fulmer has ties to as well in Steele & Garner. Not sure if we try to hire Gus, but interesting of all the names on the list I bet Fulmer knows him best.

Another thing is Gus' two coordinators were serious candidates for our job in 2017. Phil interviewed them both multiple times.

Still don't trust him. The P12 is a weak conference, and I would almost put money on the NCAA ends up sniffing around at Oregon if Cristobal stays there long term. Lastly, once he lost his NFL QB Oregons offense this year hasn't been good.

FIU should be a good job. All kinds of local talent against very very average conference competition. His tenure there was a big failure

Hate to be "that guy," but who/what is LWS?

Larry Smith. Been on the boards for a looooooong time. Pretty sure he had a connection to Fulmer's staff. Not sure he has much of a connection anymore, and he's admitted he is not nearly as informed. But people like to get his pulse on things.

Kiffin would make Tennessee football fun again. And he’d win big.

If I was a FU Money guy, this would be my #1 priority.

Thing i liked the most about him..is he didn’t back down from any of the SEC coaches that were in the SEC,when he came in..Lane thought he could beat them all and never held back with his words.Lane was a young hot shot with something to prove.

From poster on VQ:
this is from an AU former players group text:

1. Mario is still the leading candidate and interest is mutual.
2. AU fans do not want Freeze. There is some animosity there.
3. Mario was set to announce he was leaving, but with them being put in the PAC-12 championship game due to UW's COVID issue, he had to push back his zoom to 6:30. Expect him to finish the season with Oregon and then leave for AU. Chance he is using it to get more money from Oregon, but doubt that.

Expect an announcement soon.
